Hello, I’ve been trying to play AVP 2010 on my PC for a few days but after playing the screen locks up. I bought it years ago on steam.
Currently it only lets me run it with DirectX9 but after playing the screen it freezes completely.
Any ideas to fix this?
My pc is higher than the requirements for this game, so I don’t know what could be happening.

I had a similar issue , not sure if its the same problem but the way I got around it was by opening the game in windowed mode? There was something going wrong when I would open it in fullscreen.
It was long ago so I cant actually remember what else I done to fix it . I couldn’t get past the first title screen , maybe directx needs updated?

Well, I’ll try, how do you put it in window mode?
Anyway to make the game open I can’t open it from the desktop either. I have to go to the esteam page to open it from there
I just tried windowed mode and it still freezes

I have no idea then mate , usually i would troubleshoot on duckduckgo , have you tried a total reinstall?

The more I think about it , I’m positive I ended up launching the game with an older version of directx.
I vaguely remember reading about certain anti aliasing settings causing issues aswell , so I tried a bit of everything .
On your logs do you get an error code? Its been that long I wish I could remember exactly how I fixed it .
Are you pushing high frames? Completely different game but fallout 4 tends to crash on me if higher than 120FPS.

well, i like to play with image quality… xd
Play with image quality but check that the frames aren’t too buttery smooth. Try 60FPS and see if it crashes. I’ve noticed that Fallout 4 , Mafia 3 really starts to tweak out on higher frames but I’ll leave image quality on max. Just cap out your frames.
