Berserker Nerf

On PS4 at least, the Berserker/Combistick combo is still way overpowered and can wipe teams in seconds. Nerfing the combistick further would make it essentially useless for Hunters and Scouts, and lowering the Berserkers health would defeat the purpose of a heavy class for Predators. The only thing that would work is to slow the Berserker class down a good bit, maybe even remove their ability to Predkour or massively slow them down in the trees. The whole point of the class is bulk and strength over mobility and speed so slow them down so they can’t just lunge between Fireteam members in a single attack, and give them the same buff from 1.06 for Hunters/Scouts (Buff to damage resistance to all FT weapons except shotguns).

no it isn’t it’s speed is now equivielent to the club the slowest weapon in the game either learn how to parry or stop bunching up for him to leap in slam you all
have people use guns that down him in one clip they do exists there are 6 of them
make sure your mudding up after someone dies dont go for revives if he is near if you low his hp follow him outside of the camp pigs were buffed but generally spawn outside of camps have 2 people camp them until he leaves and uses a medkit
zerker combi isn’t op anymore zerker Sword is actuallly far better now

keep in mind last patch they specifically buffed second wind so you could jump this was to stop players from just running down preds if we reduced zerkers speed even further than it s now that could happen again rendering 2nd wind on that class useless again the devs already decided that was bad

What makes the combi stick so good compared to other melee weapons is simply the range and tracking. It doesn’t take any effort to continually hit someone with it where as other melee weapons the FT is capable of getting out of the way mid combo and sometimes even outrun the predator as he’s attacking.

it’s almost like that fills a niche for the weapon which is balance if you wanted more dmg and were better at the game you would just use sword instead it’s harder to parry and does more dmg and by simply WALKING between swings you remove the bad range/tracking of the weapon

In several games against Berserkers, nobody was leap-slammed and not everyone is aware of parrying, so if the first person they go for doesn’t parry they will guaranteed go down and likely insta-claimed. Parrying is only useful when people stick together and can be backed up with firepower, this doesn’t happen often in games with randoms. The trouble is the Berserker doesn’t leave the area when they launch an attack, they just quickly close the distance between people downing them one after the other leaving little room to fight back properly, and with the range on the Combistick this makes avoiding the attack impossible.

sadly this post doesn’t defeat my arguement friend if a counter exists and people aren’t aware of it that isn’t the games fault it’s literally easier to do it now to the stick cause it’s slower
and also no if you run the melee perk you could just out melee the predator or even worse if you using one of the six guns that one clip him by parrying him 2 times you kill him

So you have to run a specific class loadout with the correct perks when going into a game with a Berserker to stand a chance of surviving, despite not knowing what type of Predator you’re facing until you are in the match. And you cannot get a melee strike in whilst parrying any predator, it becomes just an exchange of blocks between the FT member and the Predator, until the predator takes a step to the side and hits you again before you can turn and parry the attack. Do this two more times in quick and easy succession and the person is down, move on to the next.

The Predator has a great advantage of being 3rd person view which allows them to always keep the FT member they’re attacking on their screen, whereas as FT after taking a hit and having your screen covered with blood for a second is enough to distract from which direction the Predator moves, allowing them to get another hit in.

eventually players learn whats the best and they run them yes that’s how metas form the predator arguement for why fireteam is OP is strictly a on paper arguement using the games own numbers
where if it occured the predator cannot win against that metateam which “could” happen if the game goes long enough and people know it exists cause metas
2nd yes you can the knife swing is faster than the combi stick as it stands right now
3rd if you were good at parrying you woudnt’ have the knife out and you woud parry it with your gun out causing the predator to lose after 2 parries

Except I’ve already tried parrying with a gun out, I still didn’t have time to get shots off before parrying again, surrendering a hit from the Predator. I was running a Scout with Thick Skin and Heavy Hitter, it still wasn’t enough to damage the predator enough to keep it from downing the rest of the team after myself. There’s no single FT class that can outperform all predator classes, a good setup can barely keep up with a decent predator and that’s with backup.

That argument only really works if every single person was part of a 4 player squad and ran that setup every single time, which is far from the case. Most games will include at least 1 random player who you likely can’t communicate with, and that’s enough for a decent Predator to take advantage. Vise versa, a Predator shouldn’t be able to destroy a team so quickly the majority of the time they play just by running the same OP setup, there should be some back and forth instead of it being so one sided. That’s the trouble with the Berserker/Combistick and your Meta FT argument. It only requires a single person to pull of the Berserker class, but the FT requires a lot of coordination and communication to pull off properly, which simply isn’t how the game is played most of the time.

that may be true but i DON’T want the game balanced around the worst newest players if counters exist they should learn to use them by playing the game and haveing the more xperianced teach/tell them ive heard enough players over comms explain parrying and such that i don’t think combi/zerker is an issue i don’t want either being nerfed into war club memery where it is a waste of a slot cause another nerf for the stick could cause this as i would assume then it’s dmg would be comparable to the club making it a thrown weapon like the disc is now
and as i said previously nefing zerker speed could cause the 2nd wind deathrun that we had before
i always approach balancing from a perspective of both teams/players do EVERYTHING in their power to win the game excluding out of game software but including whatever the game offers them even bugs beacuse if you really want to win the game you will

It’s not the whole game being balanced around the “worst newest players”, it’s one OP class setup that can easily wipe even an averagely talented team who’ve a good idea how to play. I’m not looking to turn this game into some tryhard paradise that just wants easy wins.

“even bugs beacuse if you really want to win the game you will” really just sounds ridiculously sweaty, and almost an admission of knowing the Berserker/Combistick combo is OP but it gets you wins against less sweaty FT members so you want it kept.

As for the problem with Second Wind vulnerabilities, that still happens with most classes. I can chase down and destroy a Predator who just runs away in a straight line not using the trees easily enough, the fix for that would be to give Second Wind a bonus to stamina and movement speed whilst it’s active to give the Predator a chance to escape, and only those with classes specifically designed for it could keep up with them.

ok then let me ask you one more thing when does it stop right now you say do the same thing with the sword and it’s arguably more efficient than the stick the sword was a terrible weapon before the first nerf
what then i don’t even use the stick anymore cause the sword is better in my eyes currently for melee rushdown
as the predator i want to win the game as quickly as possible i have no incentive to do so otherwise due to lack of resources and short timers and low rewards what then

your telling me not one of 4 know how to parry my experience playing matches tells me this isn’t true lol

The sword is different because it doesn’t have as great a range as the Combistick, which is why that is so favoured in this setup. the fact that you can hit everything in almost 180 degrees in front of you, in quick succession and from outside of the FT melee range is already powerful even if the damage isn’t.

and keep in mind with this set up i’ve wiped a coordinated team that was using some of the meta weapons 2 of them were out of 4 and they were all on private mics ii use them as practices sometimes cause it’s a good way to do that
of course this was 1 of out 5 games but it still happend

ok again it doesn’t need range you can walk inbetween swings to circumvent this it only takes 3 hits to down a support with hp up

You can pull that off because you apparently are a very sweaty player who doesn’t seem to play for fun, but for the wins. It sounds like you’d be better off finding something more competitive.

Something like that happening 1 out of 5 games is decent enough, but it happening near every game like it is with the Combistick is why it is far too OP. I’m not calling for a nerf to the damage from the Combistick, or to the Berserkers damage or health. Just slow it down a little to better fit the point of the class and to give people a chance to get some shots in before it wipes them out.
