Hey guys, I’ve come to the conclusion after playing quite a few games against the Zerker/combi setup that it’s actually fine the way it is. This is how the predator is supposed to feel, tanky, vicious, and very scary to go up against in close combat. He’s far from invincible and when I have a good team who doesn’t bunch up and actually COVERS each other, he gets forced off after downing 1 maybe 2 guys.
Now, I WILL say that some guns are much better at forcing off a pred rush than others - the Scar, Minigun and 2nd and 3rd shotgun are all great, not so sure about the first 2 assault rifles and the SMG’s. But, that’s a subject for a different thread - making all the guns “good” while still making them feel different and worthwhile.
The only time the Zerker seems unstoppable is if he gets the drop on your team while you are dealing with an alarm - which is what the Predator is SUPPOSED to do!
I have also seen Hunter predators jump in with the combistick and beat a fireteam’s ass in short order. The Zerker has more health but not THAT much more - trust me, he cannot solo a team in cc that actually keeps calm and focus fires him. And if he goes for a glory kill you can force him into 2nd wind or kill him.
Players either forget to parry or just don’t know about it - the purpose of parrying is not to out-melee the pred but to create a pause in the slaughter so your friends have more time to focus him down.
What I would like to see is buffs to the other 2 predator classes to make them just as scary.
Here are some ideas - Hunter pred gets an extra accessory slot. This would give him more options to mess with the fireteam indirectly while not stepping into the Berzerker’s “ultimate brawler” zone.
Scout pred gets some kind of additional stunts/parkour moves he can do in branches to make him harder to hit in a standoff with the fireteam. Maybe allow him to do some crazy flips/twists while running to better evade gunfire. He’s squishy, so making him hard to hit would force the team to use grenades more.
Let’s find a way to make the other classes feel better without being punks about the Berzerker. In my view, the Zerker is just about perfect right now.
