Do you recognize this advertisement, if you don’t you haven’t bought a comic book in your damn life. During the times where comics were as common as white rice, you’d probably recognize this ad from one of many candy adverts from comics on the stands from marvel and dc and the like. Nothing unusual here , it was one of the staples components of earlier comics. Why yousay? well back in the day, candy used to be something that companies had to sell in a very competitive market. Do i need to explain that to people? People used to be only cognisant of things in adverts. So much competition, well no, there really wasn’t any. But during those times, if people want to make a lot of money on chemicals, it might be very embarassing. So they clung onto popular media. That of which was comics.
Candy companies weren’t anything ingenious! they are chemical companies and likewise were bombarded with accusations of which other chemical companies had. To clarify once again, candy companies werent selling you fruits and vegetables. They were selling you chemicals in various different chemical states and compositions and QUANTITIES! sO IF THEY WERE MAKING ANY MONEY OFF OF YOU, it was because they bought productions from the very thing that was popular…popular icons/media (comics- so lets just blame them for everything chemically wrong with the consumer).
