Can some one explain how the net gun works

I shoot it from trees up close but they don’t get trapped am I useing it wrong?

Make sure you aren’t hitting any obstacles in the way, even leaves can sometimes block the shot. Also it’s not the fastest moving projectile, if your target is moving, make sure you lead them a bit.
