Can someone explain ping to me

I have a pretty good connection I rarely go over 60ms but some matches I hit 90-110 and literally nothing changed in my house.

I assuming it is the milliseconds of time it takes to
A. receive data back to your machine or
B.amount of time the server receive data about you from your machine.

So is there a reason why it would be random?

Different servers in different regions
Data travels longer distance hence ping will be more.

Distance between you and the server combined with other factors (eg how fast your request is processed along the way.) Networking is complicated. You can get very technical. Distance and hardware are really the most basic and note worthy things. It changes mostly because the location you’re connected to changes.

Ah that makes sense thank you I’ll just dip out then it’s usually when I’m paired with a team with less than 10ms

what why would you do that?

If I hit over 100 the lag is noticeable and irritating and hard to hit FT with my bow because they’re jerking around.
It’s not that big of a problem as FT but with Predator my aim isn’t super great
