Can we get map tools?

What is Illfonic stance on handing out map tools too the community?

It would eleviate some of the pressure from the community for maps. Even with just using Jungle assets. The players can keep themselves busy while you guys do your amazing work with a bit of peace.

You may think that people would make one-sided maps, which is true, but the balanced ones will naturally make it to the top of any fan favourite list.

On one hand, I’d love access to map tools and would enjoy learning how to use them. On the other hand, I’m not sure if it’s possible to do on PS4 and I don’t see it being good for the community if only the PC players can access them.

I also can’t think of an asymmetrical game that has given it’s player base access to map tools, so I don’t know if there’s a standard for them to follow. Without a guide they may spend more effort and work than is required, for something that may not give a return of investment.

It’s a good idea, I’m just mentally caught/snagged on the mechanics of it working.

Custom maps worked well with Halo on xbox imo.

I’m not thinking of completely rework a map, more like move or expand a base camp. Derailed would be a good map to move stuff about.

The map could be saved to your ps4/pc so only run it on private or Illfonic could get a server so players can upload the maps for everyone to download if they want that particular map.

I’m a ps4 player but I would still be fine if it just worked for PC. Illfonic would be able to see the gems players have created and make it into an official map.

Not against it, I’d love to try my hand at map making. Halo might be a special case because Xbox/Microsoft. If the devs did have a way to do it, that wasn’t time consuming or if they can use an existing model for how to do it. I’m pro letting us fuck around. It is a cool idea.

Yeah, I know there’s gotta be alot of reasons for this or that behind the scenes. But I think it would work for them in the long run. Increase game longevity and you essentially get the community working to make the game better for free after the initial start up process.

I suggested this a while ago. Sorta how far cry had it in one of their games. I bet the community would make some dope maps. Add a rating system and the best one could get polished by them.
