Change my Mind

So, after running a few games with the Viking and his trusty Battle Axe I have to say he’s really not that bad and neither is the axe.

Before you go busting my balls, think about it, more health not too shabby. Once you kinda get how to play him he can be super annoying.

Large pouch for those bonus heals and traps to go in more plus you have pigs

Long jump works well and don’t need adrenal really with the long jump

Impatient, fearless, medic, and a few other perks to fill in work pretty well

Battle axe first thought tracking was nonexistent, but after a few tests seems to be better with last patch, not perfect, but if you keep your camera angled towards what you want to hit tracks pretty well and Big boi will leap pretty far for that overhead

His downside is he’s slow and doesn’t get as much gear as Zerk, but if you play him slow and steady to decent paced and poke with the bow, HC, or PC you can dive in for easy finishes and take little to no punishment.

You can also of course dive in two swings quick claim and jump out and come out with 3/4 of your health if your aim is on point. Plus all the bonus heals just makes it easier and less punishment to worry about. Then, you have the bear traps you can bait people into with proper placement and get a free down and claim.

Honestly, feel like I misjudged Viking at first and I am starting to enjoy him. Definitely not the easiest predator to use, but definitely one that can be fun and add a little challenge if you find your games too easy for your taste

Axe is definitely the worst weapon in the game. You can just walk backwards away from pred while shooting him if he tries to use light attacks on you. And if he uses heavy just hold either right or left and he won’t be able to hit you no matter how good he is. Viking is arguably The worst predator Against top tier pc premades, but randoms Simply doesn’t have the coordination to deal enough dmg to kill him. So you will win a lot more than you loose and that makes him look op.

Sounds good. Unfortunately both Axe and Viking are trash.

Consider your balls busted.

Wait…that came out wrong.

Won’t deny that

Lol you liked it

Not really, just have to play a certain way with him otherwise you’ll get fucked up. Kinda like Scout, Zerk, and even Hunter who’s a little more versatile they all have a certain playstyle you have to follow if you want to win

I can use this to justify blindfolding myself or covering half the screen, but unfortunately it doesn’t make these not shitty options lol

Let’s make something clear. Are we talking against a playstyle against good players or just a bunch of randoms?

Nahh, worst weapon in the game I would give to either the Netgun or wrist blades lol. And again the tracking does work on it with the overhead swing so even if you jump back you’ll get hit. I caught so many people last night trying to jump backwards on the heavy swing then did a quick light and they were down. Then, quick claimed and dipped

In the right hands, every Pred is good. My play style is absolutely not for the meaty ones. I only have 1 berserker. If alphas health were where it was at its launch, it’d be my favorite.

I haven’t spent enough time with the axe but the viking is an absolute UNIT

Several games I ended up going against teams with mics so even if they were randoms they were talking to each other, spotting me, calling out and backing each other up, I ended up second winded twice, but killed the last 3 at the end at the chopper

It can be fun, but Axe will track if you keep your camera angle right where you want to go in the FT direction with the overhead swing. It’s not like the other predator weapons that’ll auto track even if not facing them.

I find as long as you orientate your Predator facing the enemy you can largely ignore the right stick

Wrist blades are free and can be used in the offhand which easily makes them good. Netgun is a 1v1 situational thing that tries really hard to make pred melee viable.

Ignoring combos and tracking - All the melee weapons are shit because they all take up an entire weapon slot just to be worse versions of elder sword.

And this bloated melee weapon roster exists when the actual optimal way to play is to just caster nonstop with the default hunter from 500 miles away.

Typically I don’t use big bois, I use scout, Elder, Alpha, but Zerk was one of my classics and Viking well watched about two hours of videos of people using him with the Axe and some tips and tricks and that’s when I tried it and after getting use to him and testing a few items and it perk setups I found something that really works. Died a couple times in the beginning, but can’t win them all.

Surprised how many people I caught off guard bouncing around with the axe and barely using the bow or Caster.

Issue is that you could do the same with elder sword and actually gets downs faster because it has higher DPS period. None of the other melee weapons have a niche. They are straight downgrades.
