Chopper is bigger, older, and more experienced than Scar for one thing, which are all things that are both stated & implied in various parts of lore & by their appearances. Chopper is also stated to have been very skilled with his Scimitars, we just didn’t get to see him show this off in the movie. Chopper also wears the least amount of armor out of the 3 Brothers which you can assume is because he has confidence in his skills. Scar is also pretty useless in close quarters combat as we see him get overwhelmed by a single Xenomorph up close on multiple occasions. I have no doubt that Chopper would be faster, more skilled, and a generally more capable fighter up close than Scar. In fact, Scar is the only one of the brothers who I’m not entirely sure would be able to beat Grid realistically with no plot armor or anti-plot armor involved.
Another thing you can notice, is that when the 3 Brothers discovered that the humans had taken the Plasma Casters from the sarcophagus, Celtic immediately ordered Scar to go a different route presumably to flank the humans if they somehow managed to escape, and he wanted Chopper by his side to confront the humans & take the Plasma Casters. From these actions, you can safely infer that Celtic would rather have Chopper by his side than Scar, which would likely mean he trusts Chopper’s skills more than Scar’s. He definitely has more faith in Chopper in close quarters engagements at the very least.
Chopper mainly died due to wanting to impress his older Brother Celtic, and thus getting overly aggressive & not being completely aware of his surroundings. You could even say he may be slightly overprotective of Celtic because as soon as he saw Lex getting up to try attack Celtic again, he was very quick to take her out of commission by kicking her into a wall. But you can also just put that down to good teamwork between the two. He may have even survived longer if the movie plot didn’t require Grid’s tail to extend to over 3 times her actual body length in order to actually reach Chopper & impale him.
About Celtic Vs Chopper, Chopper isn’t beating Celtic. Celtic was the leader of the trio for a reason & is by far the largest & physically strongest. He also has the best actual combat feats & kicked Grid Xenomorph’s ass for ¾ of their fight. Chopper would have better overall combat speed & is more skilled specifically with his Scimitars, but Celtic would hold the advantage over him in more or less every other aspect. Both of them are very capable of folding Scar in half like a deck chair though.
