They both have advantages:
Combi has a great reach (medium melee distance), can be thrown, combos with the throw can happen. (slightly less damage melee dmg unfortunately, but find I can pull the full combo off more often and it’s AOE is great)
Sword feels like it pulls players in and provides a challenge for FT trying to get away or even hitting a syringe. The first attack of the sword is a great for jump in/jump out paper cut style of play. (Very upclose and personal weapon, tough to land full combo without getting lit up, decent AOE)
Gotta give edge, to combi for its versatile usages and ability to keep distance from enemy :)

As someone who has used both for decent amounts of time, I’ve have to say Elder Sword. It’s the more effective melee weapon. The combi has good damage when thrown, but that’s offset by the hassle of having to retrieve it.

I like the sword. I belive it’s faster, somehow harder to parry. Yes, the Combistick can be thrown like they say, and it does a lot of damage on a throw hit, but I guess it depends on your playing style. I have bad aiming, so I prefer something easy to use when going melee, that way I don’t have to mind too much about my aming.
Combistick used to actually do melee damage. Now its got the slowest swings in the game and its just tickle damage until the third swing.
Melee is trash though just throw the stick.

Combistick is better in that it deals more damage and can be used for ambushes
Elder sword is faster and imo harder to parry
