I get that, but even a semi competent one should protect a person from self incrimination and police intimidation. People may think they are not guilty and have nothing to hide and the next thing you know your in custody for 20+ hrs answering questions culminating in a signed confession.

Of course, even the free ones are overworked and are directed to get guilty pleas for lesser sentencing under the threat of maximum sentencing of found guilty. Sheety system

The other thing is, there’s no guarantee that the lawyer will make sure everything’s lawful. In my experience, lawyers are just as bad as cops for attempting to intimidate or coearse people into a particular course of action.

What do you mean by lie? Supposedly there was a gun, unless that was a deputy’s gun he was reaching for purposefully or inadvertently. The civilian should not have been there and he caused more problems than helped. The man should not have been resisting. I understand the anxiety of the situation but you can do that or you are making a very tense situation and people get scared and shoot guns.

There’s not a sudden increase in the number of LGBTQIA+ people, they’ve always been here.
