I play quick matches only.
I played FT a lot in the first months, then focused solely on Predator and now I just got back to FT… and the situation, while improved, is still quite bad.
Pretty much all the FT players complaining that “omg predator is op too much hp, too fast” should either a) realize that their team suck, or b) just stop chasing butterflies and as soon as they see that the predator is on them should start working together and fight back…they would discover a whole new game, and that they would undoubtedly win most of the time.
MOST of the time I am the highest dmg dealer and I am not a top player by any means…in fact I bet that compared to many ppl on here I suck badly. In MOST of the matches where I lose, it’s clear as day that 1-2 more players that play at least on my level of skill+“awareness” would have destroyed the predator. To the very best preds, 4 PC FT on this level would still be a freaking nightmare, they would still have to work to win.
So it’s amusing that there’s this many people screaming git gud at Preds when literally 70% of FT plays like crap and should start to learn how asymmetrical fps work.
I believe it’s rather obvious that when most people complain about FT being op they refer to their damage output and speed, like I do when I (rarely) criticize balance, which i think is mostly ok for what the game is btw. So they talk about FT that actually fight the fight.
I am deeply convinced that a game should NOT be “balanced” around randoms. A game should be balanced period. That makes for a good game in general, it’s what gives classic games their “soul” (no subtle references but it works that way as well), it’s what makes ppl stick around. If it’s consistent, and rewards skill (probably good to add MORE rewards, e.g. prestige system for FT only), it doesn’t matter how hard it is, people who like the genre will invest time into it. And this game is definitely not among the hardest games.
So my solution: introduce a well made mandatory tutorial for FT with heavy emphasis on how to do teamwork. If ppl still feel it’s too difficult, then it’s purely on them. Minor tweaks might still be needed, but I really think that this would mostly be it.
