Dear Illfonic,

Your AOE mechanic is a joke. Night in and night out I am getting downed because the Predator is getting free damage through the walls. Now I know some walls are made of wood and bricks but the ones that are made of steel should hold up against the plasma caster and contents inside those structures should be safe as well. I hope that in the next Update/Patch you address this issue.

There is a reason for this. It’s to keep FT’s from abusing the building by camping and fortifying it in a sense to grief the predator. It also keeps the predator from having to run in and try to take them down and end up getting body blocked in to kill them. I’ve had it done to me and have done it to several newer predators.

Several buildings you can avoid taking caster damage by simply staying away from the walls. Several buildings also have one entrance where you can stay in the middle and not be hit. Then, Predator only has one angle they can hit you from in which you are totally open to being sniped and/or gunned down. They have it that way to help counter some of these types of players.

And no they probably will not change it anymore than they already have which was nerfing the roof slam damage. You also already take less damage from a caster shot that isn’t a direct hit and the wall helps block some of the damage too. Best advice don’t camp in building and stay near walls. Plenty of other ways to apply pressure to the predator without having to hide out in a building.

If you’re talking about melee weapons going through walls, you would be correct. That is a serious problem. However, if you’re referring to the Caster shooting into buildings and detonating barrels or gas cans, then feel free to learn how to gtfo of buildings. I’ve several videos showcasing why you SHOULD NOT camp in buildings. Every time, it screws you over. You wanna hide from a pred? Lose him, mud up, sit in a thick bush. But ffs, don’t play dumb. You’re fighting another human being, they’re smarter than you think

It’s not hiding out when you have to babysit f***ing objectives two or three times in a match.

Can I get a clip of this?

It doesn’t take 4 people to babysit an objective. Coordinate with your team and choose the weakest player to babysit the objective while the rest keep pressure on the Predator. Still no excuse there. You have a team for a reason. And a lot of the objectives save maybe 2 you don’t have to babysit inside the building and can be done outside or nearby. Even so only takes one to hold the objective. And a lot of FT’s do try to camp and hide in buildings. Truly decent FT’s do have one cover objective while rest pressure pred.

Tbh I don’t understand the hate for melee through walls. The only way to hit them is if they’re pressed against the wall and the damage you deal is insignificant in comparison to hitting them with a fully charged PC shot. It’s also way safer to use the PC than to melee since one guy could pop out the door and catch you locked in the animation for a quick shot.

@TentacleDadi couldn’t have said it better.

99% of all my kills as predator is through walls. just saying. Especially at exfil. I do it through the floor because hacks.

There is a tip on the loading screen that basically says beware of aoe damages because walls will not save you

Why are you babysitting objectives in the shack when FT is safest in the open? Shoot back and be productive.

Ive never understood people thinking game flow includes hiding in a room throwing medkits around.

I can agree with his frustration there are a few missions that force you to be super close almost too close tbh. But others have said it already coordinate the babysiter for those type of objectives

Because nobody else will. It’s more important for some people to get AI kills or run after Predators or scrounging for Veritanium.

If somebody is using melee to damage you through a solid object, especially inside an enclosed building.

Report them. That’s an exploit.

People defending objectives inside buildings with very limited range to them is not an excuse for anyone to act like a shit. Because that’s what you are when you abuse exploits in a competitive title. A pathetic, piece of shit.

I was going to shop the whiny text over it but I can’t be assed.

Yeah I don’t take his views on balance and exploits too seriously since apparently he calls a berserker/Viking OP for jumping in front of him and his team and plasma caster “spamming” without a single one of them punishing them for doing something so incredibly stupid especially as the classes with the worst energy capacity.
