Defining Success As A Predator

Hello fellow Fireteam and Predators. I’ve like to ask how everyone here qualifies success in Predator: Hunting Grounds . In asymmetric games like this, Dead by Daylight, Friday the 13 , and others, it can be difficult to determine a win.

For example, we know that some Berserker players love to rush down a Fireteam with their Combistick and wiping out the team in 2 minutes might be a “win” for them. Sure, no one gets any real experience or currency, but at level 100 that does not really matter much anyways.

What about the Scout Predator player who applies constant pressure for nearly fifteen minutes, only killing a Fireteam member when they can be executed. If they end up with two kills, or even one, but harass and down multiple members, is that winning?

I’m sure that some players will state that winning is however one has fun, so I’d love to hear how everyone here qualifies their “win” in a hunt.

Depens on the amount of players on the opposite team.
Kill them all whem squad has 3+ players = win
I dont want to win against 2. U usually try to team up with them

I go purely by score

Average of top three on FT vs Predator score

I tend to judge my performance/wins against the performance of the FT.

As a Scout:
vs. inexperienced random FT - eliminating the FT is the bare minimum for a win to me. In those cases I try for 6-7 kills. This can be difficult because these folks will often quit the match early.

vs. experienced random FT - eliminating the FT is enough, though 4+ kills is preferred. Getting kills can be difficult again due to folks who sometimes exit mid-match,

vs. experienced premade FT - as you noted, getting 1-2 kills is considered a win for me.

vs. premade Pred hunter FT - stretching the match out to the full 15 minutes or successfully self destructing is a win. If you can manage to get any kills in also that is bonus. Getting them to curse you out in VOIP is also a partial win in my opinion.

This is interesting, I have been trying to “decode” how to generate a higher Predator score but am still stumped most of the time. Do you have any insights on this that you would be willing to share?

So far it seems like the longer the match is drawn out/you stalk the FT the higher their claim value becomes in the scan. Not sure how much damaging them, them damaging you, them completing objectives, them picking up Veritanium, etc. affect this value but it seems to.

Edit: Since it seems you keep track of this (I have started to as well). What is your personal best score (if you are willing to share). Mine is 10930 as Scout. I feel this match was against a random FT though so it devalues the number a bit in my opinion.

By torturing the last person alive. My personal favorite is net torture. Combined with bear trap. Most people tend to leave lol.

Once an ft member is marked his value will increase as he gets kills, completes objectives, attacks the predator ect. Letting them get revived twice is key as a FT member that goes down a third time is dead for good, and getting the stealth kill one is worth a ton of XP.

Yesterday I was chasing a FT where one of the members was on his last legs, I shot him with a bow and pinned him to a tree and got 2,100 points for him before I even claimed him.

Torture, ahh.

This must explain why the Predators wear creepy netted undies all over their bodies, with only tiny plates of armor… Noted, thanks for that!

As a FT main this is how I see it.

Easiest way to find out is if the Pred has more xp than the highest FT member, that just means they did more than the best player in FT.

The real way I decide is:

FT escapes = Draw

FT escapes but with 2+ deaths = Draw (but technically Pred did better so could be a pred win)

Pred arms bomb but FT escapes = Draw (technically the pred was killed but chopper was already called, could be considered FT win)

FT killed = Pred win

Pred killed w/ bomb defused= FT win

Pred killed w/ bomb explode = Draw (my opinion, I dont feel a sense of accomplishment if the bomb doesnt get defused)

Pred downed w/ bomb explode killing FT member = Draw (not all just one, I would consider this a last FU from the Pred so kinda a Pred win)

Pred killed w/ bomb explode killing FT member = Draw (shame upon the FT member who didnt defuse :P, could be considered Pred win)

Personal best is 14k as a hunter with only 4 FT kills

How about killing three to let the last reinforce, and then not killing any?

I would feel thats a Pred win, the FT got their shit together because they knew the Pred was better than expecting.

I have done that too when I can tell there may be some very inexperienced and/or young kids on the FT based on hearing them in VOIP. Assuming they do not start quitting the match after getting downed/killed. I have even helped a few FT finish the mission in these types of cases.

If they all survived I’d still consider it a win for the FTs. I’m sure others beg to differ but I feel like going by the end result within the gameplay mechanics is the most fair. Predator may win in spirit in this scenario but not on paper.

Honourable Pred, I can respect that.

I have not kept track of my scores but I record most games so I’ll have to comb through. 10K is sort of a minimum score I aim for as a Scout, because the game is drawn out and there is so much potential to down/hit/execute later on. 14k I think has been my highest, but I don’t recall what I did differently.

Unfortunately, until there is some sort of post level 100 progression system to make experience count for something, it is not really relevant. I would love to see something, even if its drawn out like an infinite Prestige /Devotion system like in Dead by Daylight. If I get some great looking piece of cosmetic armor for my Predator every 100 levels, you can be sure i’ll be maxing out that experience each match, which I think is much healthier for the game than the Berserker stomp.

Id say having fun playing is a win lol. Many times i dont kill all of em and the round lasts 15 minutes, its awesome

Honestly I’m so bad at predator as long as I kill 2 it’s a win in my book.

I just advise all Predators to not ask the kids “candy? want some candy?” There could be real world complications that arise due to that…
