Delete dodge ability of a Fireteam

Just delete this knife from inventory. Please. It has no sense to parry sword/spear attacks with the god damned little knife, especially if you fight with someone who’s much stronger and faster than you (and the Predator is). It also has no sense in terms of game balance - playing a melee predator (berserker) even if I was lucky to come close to the Fireteam from behind (maybe they are deaf, I don’t know, Berserkers steps are as quiet as elefants), I hit someone 1 time, he turns around and starts parring and dodging my attacks. So I’m just locked in animation, do no damage, while other members of the Fireteam annigilate me. It’s absurd.

True

I did that many times as Fireteam. You can’t always parry the attacks all the time. But the smart predator did fall back a bit and starts firing plasma at me. Thing is you have to plan how to dealt with Fireteam. Learn from mistakes. I did that too when I’m playing as predator. I tried picking them off one by one. If I get too many hits? I fall back then patch up and try again. Even I lose? It’s alright I got EXP anyway lol.

Yes, you can’t always parry the attacks, but you can parry them long enough to let your teammates kill the Predator or at least do tons of damage. Using Plasma? I’m a melee-based Berserker, my Plasma does not do much damage. I waited for a good moment, I come close from behind and… and still can’t kill 1 of them? Really, you think it’s ok?

Change up your attack cadence, it’ll throw em off. Pick your spots. Even the Zerker can’t just focus a single enemy and not have to worry about his teammates. Try jumping, then coming in for the attack. Basically, don’t be predictable. Keep at it and you’ll get better for sure.

I’m not saying that this game is perfectly balanced. All I’m saying is that you just gotta learn how to adapt. I’m sure they’ll find a way to balance it. Devs are monitoring it. But for now you just gonna adapt. When they parry you. You can use net gun to keep one of them occupied or throws down traps or create any chaos that would make them focus somewhere else. Your plasma does low damage? Then use it to deteriorated their health.

Even Zerker can’t just focus a single enemy attaking him/her suddenly from behind? Really? Why? If you let the lion attack you from behind, you want to have chances to survive? You have these chances, they are known as “reinforcement”. But sure, man, if you’re playing a Predator, all of your game is about tactic (and adoptin, and suffering), but when you’re playing as a Fireteam… everything changes. Stay close, don’t run after the Pred, heal each others. Ressurect your teammates. Look around. It’s so hard, isn’t it? And even if you’re blind and deaf (didn’t see and hear the Predator aka Christmas tree and Elefant’s son) and let the Pred come close to you and attack you from behind… Don’t worry! That’s ok! Your little knife will save your life, just hop back and dodge spear attacks.

You know, I’ve played a lot of hours in WoW and I know all this shit (sorry for my language) about balance. When some class/spec is OP and some are terrible weak, there will always be people who’ll say: “Everything is great, just learn to play, adopt and anything will be good”. But you know, it’s a bullshit.

No ones saying everything is fine, just stating it also might not be as broken as you’d think. Iv come across the same parry spammers as you and Iv detailed how I was able to overcome them. Just trying to pass on what worked for me as it may work for others.

I really like the Predator franchise and it hurts me a lot that we have almost no games that let us play as Predators. I want this current game will be good, fun and rewarding for both sides so it will attract lots of people and won’t die in some months/a year. That’s why I’m so… emotional.

Bro I get your feelings. Game can’t always be perfect at launch. You gotta expect them to fix and balanced it. We’ll see how it goes. Hope they did not turn into EA.

Now before anything else, yes parrying is currently broken, for the simple fact that is dorsnt require stamina. If they change it so parrying uses stamina so you only get a couple parrys instead of unlimited, that alone will help even the melee playing field. That being said, not even the beserker predator is supposed to be able to drop in and play the game like a hack and slash, he may seem like that at first but like the rest you are supposed to play him as a stealthy hunter, wearing your for down with hit and run. Jump in cloaked, strike, jump out. If they parry the first attack, net gun them and attack again IF you think you can knock em. Dont claim skulls not even the quick claim as that is free damage, wait til they are reviving the downed teammate and hit them a charged caster shot or uncharged for some quick small hits. Once they are worn down, that is when you can safely-ish jump in and try to play a hack and slash, but most people just arent grasping thstisnt how any of the predators are supposed to play. Currently the predator has a higher learning curve than the fireteam and requires far more skill and patience to play.

Bro I get it. The Predator is maybe my favorite movie monster of all time so I’m right there with ya. But Illfonic’s last game, Friday the 13th went through its share of growing pains to eventually land in a fantastic spot. It was just a shame the legal battles basically ended that game. So I’m confident this game will get to where large portions of the community are satisfied. Keep adding constructive criticism and your ideas.

At least remove the stun effect

I don’t get it, why I can’t “hack and slash” a single soldier from behind? And I guess that all classes and playstyles of a Pred have to be… well, not equal, but playable. Otherwise all of Predators will be the same - same build, same weapons, same tactics.

You can dude. Coming up from the back is the best way to start your attack. If they’re of decent skill they won’t just sit there and take it tho, they’ll turn and try to fight back.

One guy sure, depending on the situation. Team is close together and running to their objective? Maybe you’ll get the drop, I wouldnt come in from behind personally but leap ahead of the one I want down and do the slam attack, then melee strike him with combistick. If he parrys, dip out because you’ll get shot to death if he parrys a second time. Try bear traps too. I found out that when in a bear trap you lose 360 rotation. Bear trap one, run in, slash him down, run out, teammate comes for the revive, blast them or slam attack, drop the fire member, then drop a bear trap on top of them. Next 2 will come to revive, now you’ve got so many options. 1. Drop in with combi stick and try to finish them, or 2. Wait for them to go to next objective and they will most likely end up with a small spread, then pick your target, run in and take one down. Most good predators I fight dont claim oir skulls, they’ll force us to use our syringes by hurting us with their plasma casters, then we have no way of quick heals, then they will down us, not finish us off. Without the perk, you get 2 revives then you are auto dead on the 3rd knock down. I enjoy the regular Hunter class personally, with the perk that makes your overcharge last a couple seconds, you can spam your plasma caster. I’ve played only a couple games as beserker, so not a ton of experience with him, but I would definitely try a more indirect melee approach. Also the predator motion detector is an amazing tool as well, as it marks your prey too.

I run recon with the perks OWLF training, Yautjas Bane, and the one that gives you more hp just for any melee predator, takes 4 hits from a beserker to knock me, with the predators attacking having a very short delay after the 3rd hit, maybe half a second before he can strike, I’ve got time to syringe, turn with my knife ready, or just sprint while my teammates cover me. I’m usually worried that predators will attack me while I’m putting mud on, but usually doesnt happen which suprises me to be honest, it’s a great time to attack them because you arent gonna get that parry off on the first hit.

Good points. Yea Iv noticed a lot of ppl think you have to get a skull the second u down them and nah, you don’t. Let em get revived and use up their equipment. On my first encounter with the FT my main goal is basically just to harass em. Get them to spend some ammo and use up those med sticks. Sure they can get more med kits, but those are a much slower process than the quick stim heals.

Exactly. It happens to me alot and I’ve been practicing trying to use the med packs and not the syringes. Can the predator destroy the deployed med pack though?

That I do not know. Would be a good thing to test in a private lobby for sure.
