I’ll take that as win!
delete the ability to parry the predator
Only James Cameron is James Cameron.
@Shadowlair I have watched Predator 2, probably more than you have. What do you mean by saying that Danny Glover is “ONLY” able to parry the Predator by using the smart disc? Did you see him try to parry with anything else or? I would also like to say that parrying with a knife that has a hand guard would be easier than parrying with a foreign frisbee(unless you’re a disc-golf pro) where the top of your hand is exposed aswell as your fingers that point out on the other side of the disc.
You’ve obviously watched too much X-Men, thinking that the Predator’s blades will cut through anything, there is nothing confirmed with their metals having any kind of super power other than being super light.
In avp-fandom they mention that the blades that the Predators use are sharp ENOUGH to be able to cut through bones, just like many of our own metals are.
Unless you bring proper facts about the composition of the Predator’s metals your reply to me is irrelevant.
@kryatin Are you saying that you can only parry something if it’s made out of the same material? If that’s the case then i think everyone who reads this can confirm you’re mentally retarded, kryatin.
Go watch Predator 2 again, PAL, and tell me if Harrigan tried parrying with anything else other than the disc.
Are you a Marvel fanboy who thinks the Predator’s wristblades are made out of adamantium or what? Or that their blades have some super magical powers?
this answer says it all,
Thank you.
Yeah yeah, alrighty buddy.
So, first of all since you’re clearly a brainlet: “…tell me if Harrigan tried parrying with anything else other than the disc.”
Yeah. He fucking didn’t. He ONLY ever parried with the smart disc. Go watch Predator 2. Not sure what point you’re making here, dude.
Second of all: No, I never said that the predator’s wrist blades are made of, shall we say, “unbreakium.” I have stated before in previous posts on other threads that the parry is unrealistic, because predators are 7 to 8-feet tall, muscular aliens that have been trained in the art of combat. A member of the CIA, regardless of their experience, is not going to stop 440 pounds of muscle coming down on his arm. Realistically? The predator would bitch-slap a FT member trying to parry him/her.
Third: I never implied that you can only parry something if it’s made of the same material. Where you got that part, I am really confused.
And finally, I’m not sure where the 10-year-old tantrum is coming from, but if you had carefully read my post instead of going into a blind rage, you would’ve seen that I was arguing AGAINST removing parry, as it’s an essential mechanic for fireteam.
@kryatin
How can you not understand my point? Harrigan parried with the disc because he DIDN’T have a combat knife as an example, or a steel rod or anything else for that matter. So how can you come here and say that you can’t parry with anything else than a disc?
Again, goooo watch the movie, my little friend who doesn’t think further than your nose reaches.
For your second statement. You say that Predators have been trained in the art of combat, can you show me the source to that please? Because Predators are hunters, who skin and collect trophies for sportsmanship and rites of passage, they don’t train for UFC world championship in the alien world.
Does a Predator’s arm weigh over 440 pounds you’re saying, lol? You can still parry and deflect attacks from something heavier than yourself or that you’re holding. There are boxers who can punch for over 1400 pounds of force, and they have been trained for fights.
The third point was built on what your first reply to me was about, that the attack was parried with a smart disc made out of the same material and not a combat knife.
What do you imply with this reply then??? To me it sounds like you’re saying that you can’t parry a Predator’s attack with anything else not being made out of the same material.
And here below is your latest reply:
Fourth:
Well, that’s not how you wrote it to be. Look:
You’re making it sound like you want to get rid of the parry function.
Congrats: I got you so butt hurt, you took the bait and wasted an hour typing.
Not sure about the “further than your nose reaches part.” Seems kinda random to me. Ight bro, you do your thing.
Also: You’re not punching with a knife. Infact, you’re deflecting the predator’s wrist-blades as they come crashing down on you. You seem to have the analogy messed up: good one dumbass.
Also also: Read the comics.
Also also also: I never made it SOUND like anything. I was just pointing out a fact: there is no way for us to know whether or not a combat knife can withstand parrying two serrated blades made of an alienoid metal, because it has never happened before in real life. What I CAN tell you is that if a gorilla punches you, or a bullet hits you, regardless of if you’re protected from the blow, you will still be knocked back. This is the conservation of motion and kinetic energy in play.
Just gonna leave it at that. You’re clearly a troll who likes to start conflicts, and I don’t particularly feel like arguing with someone who won’t see reason.
- I haven’t been typing for an hour.
- Who said you punch with a knife? You could probably hammer fist with one though.
- Why should i read the comics?
What does this make you sound like you’re saying then? And don’t say that you were retelling what happened in the scene, because we all saw that. With this reply you wrote you’re trying to say that you can’t parry a Predator’s blade with anything not being made from the same metal as their blades. You need to reformulate if you’re implying to something else.
- If you watched the movie then you should know they bring a piece of their metal into a lab to inspect it.
Did you figure this out right now? Congrats! Better late than never.
7. The only troll here is you, who replied with that comment, i’m only here to answear to it.
i know im jumping out of no where but um Dark horse is a Fucking awesome commic just saying…
Dark Horse - Katy Perry? :P
No. No… my good man (alien doggy)… it’s Katy Parry. Lol
Who?
ahhhhhhhhhhh katyyyy
I’m agree, removing the parry is a good idea, FT can kill the pred with 1 clip and when you are close to them, they parry your attack while the FT shoot you …
An idea :
- no parry system
- less melee damage for the rpedator
- stealth kill if you are stealth behind a FT player =P
I like turtles…
I like turtles too…
In all seriousness…while I feel parry doesn’t fit well into the game, it’s absolutely necessary. Otherwise the Predator can just steamroll the fireteam at any given time and it’s not even close to competitive. Personally i think a dodge/roll mechanic for FT would have been a better route and also more believable and multipurpose but it’s illfonic’s game, they can do what they want.
Maybe Illfonic should try and be of a good example to everyone playing and make it so neither the Predator or the Fireteam can get within 6ft of eachother, unless someone has been downed, in these Covid-19 times…
