Discussion about Bow

So bow was “buffed” in recent patch. The ability to hold shot longer is nice idea, but I don’t think arrow’s speed was the problem.

I want to start discussion about it’s damage. Considering that bow requires nearly pin point aim, movement prediction of FR who run and jump like rabbits around and takes as much time as plasma caster to be charged, damage isn’t rewarding. You need from 2-3 arrows to actually down someone, unless you get headshot (I’m not sure about that one). In many cases fr will deal more dmg to you than you will to them by using bow. Using plasma caster has more sense, because you don’t have to have perfect aim to do dmg, you can just shoot the ground and still apply some dmg to the player.

I understand that this is part of balance, because bow is silent and doesn’t use energy. But with how stealth already works… Yeah… It’s not that stealthy weapon, is it? Yeah, you can get (MAYBE) few surprising shot’s but then arrow’s tracer will give away your position and then
incarcerate in endless loop of being spotted.

I think it’s dmg should be buffed and be instadown on full charge. HOWEVER, to avoid pointblank one shot downs with it, I purpose a solution in form of distance multiplier. On distance from 0-100 meters, bow would do the same dmg as it does now (2-3 shots to down), but on 100+ meters, any hit would instantly down a player. Of course numbers would be up to the balance, but this is my initial idea of it.

For exchange for this change, I would even take longer charge time or longer arrow traversal time if this was needed to implement it.

But, maybe I’m just trash with it and it doesn’t need that kind of change. What do you think about this weapon? Let’s start a discussion!

I think it’s perfect wrt speed and hold time. If you’re good enough to hit a FT with it, it should absolutely be a down. Same with thrown combistick

Other people are definitely making it work. People are still rushing for damage not realizing that the FT healing nerf allows the pred to play more patiently and chip.
