Not really. You shouldn’t be forced to have perfect audio to play. Yes, top tier players and I, myself, use expensive headphones, but the visual elements should be included.
Disk is better but still trash
Don’t forget that with that constant annoying audio bug that still hasn’t been fixed you can’t hear anything at all so you need some sort of visual queue to able to at least function.

Bah, I buy a $20 pair of earbuds from Walgreens at least once every few months and it works fine lol
Honestly though, it ain’t that hard to see. If it didn’t have the trail I’m sure you could still spot it just as easily. For that matter 90% of the hits I’ve taken from the disc were when I was reviving someone or had just been revived, thats typically how players seem to use it so the trail isn’t gonna effect the outcome much.

I have a PS4 pro and it’s been happening since excavation came out. It’ll happen whether I’m pred or FT.

Yeah. Two guys I play with have PS5 and it seems like 1 out of 5 matches, all they can hear are the boars and birds. Backwater and Excavation seem to be effected most, but that could just be confirmation bias.

Backwater and excavation are the most notorious for it but it’ll occur on every map. When it happens all you can hear are scattered sounds like the pred cloaking regardless of how close or far they’ are, same with pig squeals or AI gunshots (these will phase in and out), birds here and there and that’s about it the rest is silence.
