Elder Pred Accuracy, & solution to 87 Skin requests

@Courier Still working my way to 150, but I’ve noticed that the Eder Pred skin appears to use the same shoulder cannon and wrist gauntlets as the generic Hunter class (all be it with an additional cosmetic laser sight on top of the cannon). This to me seems an odd and needlessly inaccurate choice.

It’s well known that the Elder Predate in Predator 2 is based on the original film’s Predator. They simply ‘aged’ the face and added a few cosmetic items to make him look more tribal and traveled.

Wouldn’t it have made more sense to have used the screen accurate shoulder pack/wrist gauntlets etc. that were created for the Jungle Hunter skin (with minor tweaks such as the laser sight) on the Elder? That way you’re:

  1. Giving people who reach 150 a more accurate representation of the Elder.

  2. Giving people who didn’t preorder a chance to obtain something very close to the look of the exclusive Jungle Hunter without technically being the Jungle Hunter.

Additional: While looking for pics to illustrate this point, I discovered a fun bit of info I hadn’t previously noticed. Apparently, the Elder Pred is wearing the remains of a US Army flag/outfit on his right wrist gauntlet.

The elder has a custom wrist gauntlet

And a unique plasma caster it’s quite movie accurate

Interestingly this is kind of on brand for him considering nobody has ever produced an accurate Elder owing to the fact he’s just not on screen that long, the lighting makes him a bit hard to see, and BTS photos are a pain to find.

  • He does have the correct gauntlets (common misconception) but the fabric is on the wrong one and the detailing is missing though his computer doesn’t light up.
  • His netting is supposed to only be on his torso and legs
  • The gun is too small (it should be JH’s gun with the added laser) and the arm should be higher as it’s visible on screen. It also sits too close to his head.
  • The backpack is Jungle Hunter’s, only the gun and arm is different, the in-game model is detailed like the default Predators.
  • While not visible on screen the costume they used didn’t possess sandals like JH. It was one of the City Hunter sets which went barefoot.
-We’re missing a bunch of dreadlock rings and the dreads themselves are far more aged than they are on the game’s model.

Ummmm i think were being too picky on this? They did a great job on Elder and alpha my opinon.

If they didn’t have time to accurately place every detail in the Elder’s skin model they could in time. On launch day, Jungle Hunter had the Hunting Grounds Wristblades and Plasmacaster, but was given movie accurate equipment in a later update; which surprisingly, I don’t think anyone really noticed.

I noticed, but it didn’t bother me too much. I think it was a glitch, remember how wristblades and casters wouldn’t hike their armor style. Figured it was that issue.

Could very well be, pre-accurate stuff, Jungle Hunter had the HG Wrist Gauntlet models in addition to the Blades, of course with default tints.

Yeah, a few people (myself include) noticed they updated Jungle Hunter to be more screen accurate - think I even did a thread about it. That’s why I was surprised they didn’t carry over some of those details onto the Elder considering JH is the basis for the Elder.

I don’t mean to sound rude, but, looking at the Elder Skin rn, and he does have a bandage over his right elbow. Of course it isn’t 99.9% accurate, but it’s there.

But considering the model of the Plasmacaster and some missing details such as belts, I do get what you’re saying. I wouldn’t go as far to say it’s a official redesign, but that could be on the table.

Oh a lot of what they’ve done is great, and I know this is hardly an important issue considering the game’s problems, but the shoulder cannon/pack is the main area that looks off. I just don’t understand why they didn’t use the more accurate one they created for JH (with an addition of the laser sight of course).

I get what you mean, no worries.
