Elder Sword is nothing...

A lot of posts have talked about how useless most of the Predator arsenal is, so this won’t really be new but wanted to put this out here. I had been using the combistick/net gun as my go to combo for the Pred but wanted to mix things up and “git gud” with some of the other weapons. I figured I’d try out the Elder Sword/Yaujta Bow to spice it up. Like the bow. Actually not as hard to use as I initially thought. But the Elder Sword…man is this thing rubbish.

I isolated a lone soldier and tried to take him down with the Sword. It was useless. I ended up switching to the Wristblades which seemed way more effective as they seem to travel more and end up having better range? Which is odd. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want the Wristblades nerfed. I like that they travel and seem easy to use. They feel good. But the sword?

Ok, the sword should be an elegant weapon. It should attack much faster and have a better range. Should be faster than the combistick but with less damage and little to no AOE. It should excel as a single target melee weapon. It seemed almost as if I was just standing in place and twirling a baton…

Also, I know it looks like it does in the movies but…idk, something about the model seems off to me. It looks shoddy. Not like a well constructed Alien weapon of an elder hunter.

Yeah it looks like a machete. I recently tried it again, I don’t like it. The problem is the tracking. Stat wise though, sword is the hardest hitting melee wep for the pred.

that thing is just rubbish, I’ve tried to use it many times but as a 1v1 melee weapon it’s ridiculously stupid, normally it will beat you to the FT with that 1v1 weapon is too bad.
The problem I find is its tracking, its mobility or simply the way it attacks, in short a weapon I will never use.

have it on one of my loadouts. works ok, I don’t mind it. The club on the other hand…

this is where brando i have to disagree while yes i will admit it’s tracking is bad
you can circumvent every other problem the sword has by simply walking between swings
in my experiance the sword has won nearly every game ive been in since replacing the combistick i don’t even have issues with people parrying me anymore unless i get sloppy
the only melee weapons that need adjusted in some way imo are the club (cause holy fuck is that weapon trash) and probably the smart disc
although illfonic if uh you wanna buff it i’ll take it LOL

The warclub looks like it should be used in another type of game where you get swarmed by aliens. It looks powerful, its slow, however I believe doesn’t do much more damagae than any other meelee weapon.

The war club and the elder sword are trash weapons. Literally the combistick is the weapon that can save the predator’s ass. And not in every match too!!

I thought it was weird they were even present lmao. I mean, it’s cool that there’s more Pred gear I guess, but they don’t really feel like they have any solid perks at all. Lol.

ya none of his weapons play any differently to be honest. little else to do than min max.

This is the problem with all the melee options if they don’t stand out. People are just going to go with what works best. They need to be unique.

Combi has good range and so should be a solid option if the FT are grouping up (if they are they suck but hey) but because it has this benefit it has to less damage and so will typically not be the best option for a single target. The added range does admittedly help but how easy the FT seem to be able to dodge melee attacks.

The sword can be the damage dealer and maybe could also have a bleed affect.

The club could do solid damage and then have something like a stagger and/or disorientation affect.

Claw would probably the decent damage, range (or forward momentum) etc but nothing else. The general purpose.

I wish they fixed dmg on war club and made disc a skill shot throw weapon that you can call back with energy. The piloting is just so slow. In the movies i dont rember danny glover playing frisbie with the predator

Definitely. Either the piloting needs a big speed increase or make it a thrown weapon with a recall.

if there is a parry mechanic for soldiers i would have to agree the predator should get some too. The only reason Arnold won in the movies is cause he out smarted with surroundings.

I really think if the building cielings should blow up if predator does a leap pound. Or add a new melee weapon the concrete buster where it punches and insta ko’s someone Requiem although if wolf was in the game these FT members would be so fucked.

Second level of trees or even third to really put them on edge and actually use the perks
