Example of how other games handle balance changes

Battlefield Official Forum Post

We’ve updated DMR’s to make them more valuable in long-range combat as we currently felt they were underperforming. The first improvement we made here is to increase Bullet Speed, which means less lead time when firing at your target.

  • BSV-M: 700 -> 790
  • SVK: 860 -> 960
  • VCAR: 600 -> 700
  • DM7: 740 -> 800

We also noticed that headshots weren’t rewarding enough for extended combat engagements. To address this we’ve tweaked their Headshot Damage Multiplier at long-range:

  • BSV-M / DM7: 1.9x -> 2.2x
  • SVK 1.5x -> 1.6 x
  • VCAR: 1.8x -> 2x

No changes have been made to DMR performance in short to medium range combat, and they’ll feel as you are used to when fighting against Assault Rifles and SMG’s. We’re looking forward to your feedback on these changes once you’ve been able to test them.

Could you imagine if specific changes were laid out in such a format for PHG? Also, the nice little note at the end about “awaiting player feedback after they’ve had a chance to test the new values.” Hunting Grounds could have been so much more had balance been handled in such a way. Sure, some fundamental aspects would be the same, but better balance would have made for a more playable game for those of us that are still around. It would be fun to switch tactics, characters, and weapons, but it’s such a handicap to not use the META. 😔

Lol nothing new tho man. We literally been here giving feedback for years. They don’t care.

But this also requires a competent community manager and competent communication between the CM and the Devs.

It requires a bit more than that, it requires actual devs and not just Jimmy the new hire who was left alone to press the release update button every two months.

Sorry, can’t fix problems if the community isn’t sucking dev dick. Mean community means people can’t fix their own game don’t ya know?

🤣 I don’t know why, but I found that much funnier than it is.

Imagine. Quality games. In 2022?

Please lmao

💯 agree… changes need to be made
Those who use meta are bad players !
Need a way to handicap these fools.

True. Not many new games seem to be as good as the ones I liked a decade ago.

I don’t know what to say about a comparison between an Elecrronic Arts game and an Illfonic game beside utopic.

Games 10 years ago were made to entertain and keep fans for the next release. Now they are just madr to suck peoples’s money with paid DLC’s and micro transactions.

everyone and their dog infiltrated the industry and either started copycatting eachother or making some low talent chimera of reskinned assets slammed together into a multiplayer game

I like to think Nintendo is the only company that still follows this mindset. Give them shit for other things, but they know how to make huge, deep games that will entertain fans for years until the next in the franchise. Most of them don’t even have DLCs, as the full game is already available (Smash notwithstanding, as it was built around DLC drops).

Japanese culture…
Just check the games from Japanese developers. They think the same way. Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo Resident Evil, MGS are some exemples of massive sell games with little to none paid DLC’'s and with constant updates and improvements. Exception made for Konami with PES, but that can be justified by the high competition they have (EA/Fifa) and the constant upgrades in sports games motion technology.
Basically they just want to monetize their work as much the next one, but as West companies want money fast, East prefer to keep fans playing for years and years till they release the next game.

I’ve been considering getting 7. GT2 on PlayStation was one of the first games I poured hours into. I played Sport quite a bit, but most players in my friends list were playing first person shooters and I would join them.

Me too, but PS5 games prices are still way too high.
Man i remember GT1 and GT2. Hours and hours of pure entertainments. No online play, no DLC’'s, no updates, bit also no bugs nor glitches.
Great times…
Talking about FPS and Playstation, remember the game Black on PS2? That is like the best FPS ever!
(Just a nostalgic moment)

Fuck, even Cyberpunk has been keeping me entertained. It may not be the most finished game but at least it’s not constantly crashing or breaking itself. Not to mention the sheer amount of shit to do. And I’m not even gonna mention Horizon Forbidden West. Elder Scrolls Online has been doing it for me too but I’ve been playing that game for years. Only gripe about that game is ESO+. Little overpriced.

Ever since the big update they had for CP2077 I couldn’t stop playing until I 100% the game. Shame they’re only doing 1 DLC and none of what they promised but I’m happy with what we have atm. Lesson learned tho.

Bro, what they had planned for that game before launch…

There’s areas of the map you can’t access. And there’s even areas that you can but aren’t what they’re supposed to be. That game was supposed to be like twice the size, regarding drive space, it is now. There was gonna be so much more shit. Hell, pacifica was going to be something totally different than what we got.

Real shame it turned out how it did. But it’s still a great game. And Johnny is still the GOAT
