F2P with payed seasons

To preface, I’ve already paid for the game, and Dutch/samurai and recognize that F2P would make some, who paid already, angry. That being said:

Going free-to-play would bring in players. Payed seasons would add progression and revenue for the devs.

Good idea? Bad idea? Fuck you for even suggesting this?

Not sure. If they did do it, everyone who bought the game should get the first two seasons free.

Season of the Busey

Fuck you for even suggesting this!

But really games don’t go f2p early on that just a big fuck you to anyone who paid for the game and a good way to alienate everyone forever by going f2p instead of making your game worth buying. The exclusivity deal with Epic hasn’t even ended yet and there’s likely a steam release planned should be fine on content at that point. Bringing in more players is just more pred queues doesn’t address the problem.

F2P only if player numbers fall off a cliff.

People who already paid should then get heavily discounted dlc and some cosmetics or a pred class that are unavailable to F2P players.

These are James Cameron’s thoughts.

Option 3.

But seriously I don’t think the games current situation requires any such drastic measures.

Im gonna have to agree with you on this one. In terms of queue times and playerbase we are actually doing good.

They really need money to keep going.
I think this model has the potential to support a F2P option, but pivoting at this early stage could be unwise and detrimental to their future.

I think their Epic exclusivity was actually a really bad move on their part for their PC player base. I of course don’t know what the financial impact of that deal was, so maybe it was so good in the short term, that it was worth the loss of players they have certainly had as a result of not releasing on STEAM.

There’s certainly many areas of this game that could be split behind pay-walls (or accelerated access to) in a combination with a Free to Play ‘core experience’. So I don’t hate the idea (as much as I have with other games).

But I certainly don’t think F2P is necessary at this point in time.
