Fireteam Hunting Grounds, the meta has arrived.

I knew this was coming, and it’s kinda…meh. As someone who plays only the predator now, i win about…i’d say 80% of my matches. Sadly the way to do this is to use the plasma cannon in a way i dont like, but its absolutely necessary to win. IF you wanna know how to take out an entire team using JUST the PC, just ask, it seems to never fail.

Now, what i am seeing in this game is what i feared the most: the Fireteam stops doing objectives and turns this game into an Arena game. The Predator isn’t designed for that, hence why the AI is in the game, for distraction. The ONLY way the predator wins is if the Fireteam is busy doing something and they get distracted letting me down one of them, and then it’s gg, i win. Im serious, if i manage to down one while keeping my energy up for a second shot, and not get hit too much, they cannot retaliate unless they have good aim and stuff me full of bullets and i have to run and heal. If i manage to KILL one, it cvomes down to killing them all then and there, or else they reinforce and there is almost no way of stopping this, even as a good predator player, you simply dont have the time.

Why is this bad you might ask, well, it’s not what the game is suppose to be. The Fireteam has so many ways to heal and get ammo, they can fight the predator for days. The Predator has 2 ways to heal, the medkit and the pigs. Pigs are not a viable solution as i havent seen one as the predator for hours, and the medkit requires you to run away and go through a very lengthy animation. The fireteam heals on the spot, and they have several each. So what im seeing in alot of matches now, and this WILL spread to most matches, is that they find a good building and they hunker down, and stay there. Predator inside a building with 4 fireteam? Certain death, you cannot go in there and get them, especially when they all use shotguns, LMG or even have the minigun aimed ready at the doors.

So yeah, thats my last few matches, and im sure there will be more. I dont really feel like this is ok tbh, the Fireteam should be on a timer for every section of their mission, or they fail, forcing them to keep running the objectives so this stuff doesnt happen. Just my two cents, the Predator doesnt have the helath or the arsenal to deal with 4 people inside any building, and using ranged is futile because they just heal and rez eachother if you even get shots on them.

I seriously hope this doesnt become a trend, and im not sure how the XP looks after a match like that, but i assume its more than good enough, iots not like this game has too many things on offer in terms of unlocks anyway, and the best items arent even high level items.

Anyone else seen this or am i just VERY unlucky? Now mind you, i will say im a pretty good Predator player and i never use melee because i find it incredibly lacking, but this is not even possible to win if all 4 decide to wait for me and just stay in one place and hunt me down, you simply cannot do it.

Sure, it’s alrady known by many good Predator players how the canno is best utilized, but I see no harm in it, it still requires you to position well and avoid running away for heals.

We all know the plasma cannon has a laser, and that laser is visible form the moon. Thats it’s weakpoint, you dont want them to see it or else they light you up if they have two eyes and anything resembling a decent aim.

Get close, i prefer building roofs as i never use trees anymore, they are pointless. Find the fireteam, wait until they are engaged with AI during a mission, and place yourself on a rooftop in the MIDDLE of them, and take it slow. Scout them all out and just wait for one to separate slightly, there’s your opening.

Aim at your rooftop, not at them, and start charging up the shot. When it starts shaking and getting close to firing a max damage shot, you aim at whoever is closest. This will down one player, and the other wont see where the projectile came from because the distance is too short. All they see is a blast, and you are free to stay on the same roof and keep the resser in your view. Uncloak and charge energy while waiting for someone to come to the rescue, and do the same thing. Cloak, start the charge aiming at the roof or your feet, and take out the resser. Now you have 2 down, it’s basicly GG at this point. NEEEEEVER run in to claim a trophy, you want them all down on the floor before even thinking about that, and if you kill them you risk the others going for reinforcements, shooting yourself in the foot.

Hope that made sense, i only use the Cannon in every match, no other weapons even MATTER to me, they are useless. This sounds “easy”, but it isnt, like i said you need to be good at finding the right moment to jump in close and stay there and pick your right targets. Get the hang of this, and you become very dangeorus for the fireteam. There are some fireteams this doesnt work on, some are very good at watching eachothers backs and makes it almost impossible to win the match, but atleast you get in some good damage.

Disc, Bow, Spear…forget it, use cannon and get good with priming shots before you aim at them, one downed soldier usually means you win because they will in 90% of the cases go for a res, hoping you arent ready for taking them out too…you are.

That makes sense. I enjoy all the predator weapons and it saddens me that its not tenable to use them.

The only way to make the other weapons usable is to take away some of the Fireteams ability to heal, they have too many. I have found that the cannon is the only weapon good enough to make sure you atleast get damage in, even if you miss, because it has splash damage so atleast you get something in return. Bow and disc are 100% useless unless someone shows me aplayer using them at some crazy ways i havent thought of yet.

I’ve been trying them and, like you, havn’t had any success with them. The plasma caster, though, can come through for me. Thank you.

Dunno, never played a game for 15 minutes. When they do this, you have 2 options, engage or quit the match. Most will engage ofcourse, and it doesnt take 15 minutes to solve the issue.

It would be funny to bear trap all the exits and throw a few motion sensors into the building so you can see them inside.
Then maybe use angles to turn plasma caster into a grenade launcher(full charge shots angled into the doors.
Also in games I have played running past the door stealth a few times will usually lure people to peek out the door.

There’s a counter to people hunkering down that I’ve seen one, yes a whole one, Predator do. He came in quickly and netted people. If someone is training their minigun at a doorway, you’ll have them netted before it even spins up.

I was on the fireteam side of this, we all just were inside because Predator was outside and we had AIs coming in so to protect the objective we hunkered down. Predator made short work of that by using his nets. Everyone got netted and then killed.

Sure Predator took damage, he was down to 27% health at the end of it, but the entire fireteam was dead.

If people are sitting in houses waiting for you to attack…dont, after 15 min if the fireteam doesn’t complete all of their objectives they lose!

Insta heal - several medkits they can bring that have several uses - Medkits in the camps that also have several uses…Its absurd.

Coming from multiple posts and I’ll say it again here, ranged predators are the way to go for now. PC predators if doing it right are annoying and hard to fight. Melee predators will die. I’ll parry you and kill you in melee, it’s too easy to do and the predator is wide open and by the time he strikes again, I simply melee immediately and get a guarenteed parry. I’ve been killing the predators in melee since I’ve found this oit because fireteam melee is absolutely busted.
