Fix leaping

Then you don’t need more maps to begin with if it’s all compounds -> 2 big buildings -> trees. What are they going to add more skylights you can’t jump back out of?

Firetream doesn’t soar through the air in a map filled with branches so it doesn’t add up. Climbing uphill is still shit and fireteam still plays like unfinished garbo so im not disagreeing but they just follow set paths all over the map.
Saying git gud at the lack of pathing for leap is like saying git gud at learning where the arrows from your bow spawn since they don’t fire from the camera side & get stuck floating in the air next to you because that hitbox on that rock was twice as big as you thought it was. You could say “lol just dont shoot around corners when theyre on your right side of course your arrows get stuck on air how didnt you see that”
You’re not fighting the other team you’re fighting the controls and map design, which is why it’s quality of life.

I do want more maps and game modes but you’re concerned with small stuff when they’re going to have to redesign most of how things work.

We don’t soar trough the air but we do have objective (lots of them) inside buildings that take a good amount of time to do (finding objects, activating them etc) but predators fight tooth and nail to keep this massive damage ability that is also AOE and goes trough multiple walls. You see, we all have things we need to “put up with” that makes it harder to win. I also don’t remember the last time someone died because of this issue you and OP broth up. Like I’ve never seen a predator hop in place when he tried to leap. Not saying it does not happen, I am saying I did not see it.

In closure, another point. The OP was NOT talking about fixing the display of the leap icon. He was demanding invulnerability for leap as well as it go trough objects. Do you know what that means? Imagine a predator leaping trough buildings completely immune and smashing! Yes, how about NO!

You broth up “quality of life” and its completely related to a topic that aims to make a guy leaping IMMUNE TO DAMAGE and go TROUGH OBSTACLES as he is leaping, don’t you think so?

That’s a hefty assumption you couldve just asked if he was asking for the ability to phase through buildings.

For the record the predator clips through the tops of those little pinapple trees. Clipping through branches during leap or making the collision hitbox smaller so a log or rock you can barely see in third person doesn’t break your ankles would be the quickest fix. Seems like the only reason you can’t currently clip through random branches midair is because they wanted to give people the option to manually leap onto trees.

He raised 2 points. First one about touching fences and branches. How do you fix something so you don’t touch those things? Yeah. Second one that FT member shouldn’t be able to shoot you when doing that. How do you fix that? Look I can only debate with what people type, not what they think.

But let’s move on, let’s say he is just asking for a fix to the icon so it displays and X if the path is not cleared. Don’t you see how this would be an indirect buff to the predator and also to SMASH that is already damn broken? As it is, you need to at least consider how you jump and if its something in the way, not so much with this fix! That is why I broth smash into discussion. Fixing something would affect other stuff to.

All I see around here are people asking for buffs to the predator and nerfs to the FT since casuals play FT and they don’t really even know this forum exist! I remember this guy posting a picture of him killing a FT and said FT had 0 damage done to the predator and asking in another topic for nerfs to spot… Guess he received 3 points of damage in another game and that was unacceptable! The more things are buffed/fixed to the pred and nothing for marines, what do you think is going to happen to the fun of playing as marine, as a random, as the vast majority of people do? I hate to break it to you but there’s like one tree in the center of one compound and the branches are too high to get in the way. You’re not needlessly arcing across the map for a slam either, and if you are you already don’t have to. So no still a different discussion related to traversing the map not dunking on people at compounds.

Another issue is running and getting stopped by a bit of terrain that is just a few inches high. It needs to be far more forgiving to stop this crap.

If Illfonic were to adjust one thing with the Leap Mechanic, it should be fixing the odd Clipping that we experience with Branches @Courier.

I think the best, overall balanced approach would be to completely remove the Predator’s Colission Box right before a Jump’s Peak and overall Arch: that way, we still have to be aware of our trajectory while being able to land without issue. There are too many instances where I’ve brushed against a Branch in the slightest, ruining my movement.
