Fixing the Melee Game.

So is there a way to do it? What do you guys think? Beyond simple damage buffs/nerfs/tweaks is there a way to make melee more viable for the Predator without making it just a rushing game?

What are your most interesting ideas? Dare to be dumb. Let’s just start an open brainstorm, bring anything even if you think its stupid.

Ideas that give the melee more depth, more strategy. Ideas that would make it more interesting than just rushing in and spamming left click.

its already viable, you just have to not keep trying to just spam it.
Attack from behind they cant parry, then they turn attack again if they parry change up. go for plasma + wristblades and mix it up. if they get the knife out use the plasma, if they return to gun then slash em…

I have some good back n forth with some guys. others have no clue and some are very good at parry.

There are so many counters to parry that most predators seem to be too lazy to do. As UK said, not spamming melees in a straight line like getting behind them or swing unpredictably side to side from their view, switching up weapons, net gun, slam, combistick throw, straight up backing away to use range weapons, bear traps with range weapons, baiting parry swings. Literally the only thing parrys do is prevent and punish brainless melee rushes, or prolong engagements. That’s it.

I’m actually not talking about counters. More like, is there something in terms of a mechanic that could be added to the game or adjusted in some way to create more depth and make it a little more strategic and interesting.

Well I did mention in another post how the other weapons predator has should get unique abilities to make them stand out. For example, the Elder sword could parry FT members, War club cant be parried but rather blocked, making it to where the predator isnt stunned and making the FT member vulnerable to the follow up strike. Dare I say the block causing the FT member to take 1/2 the original damage on block. Because the war club is kinda lacking currently.

in a perfect game i would pretty much say
Combistick: should be as it is right now
Claws should be as they are right now with perhaps making swinging claws into plasma shot a little more intuitive and less clunky feeling
Sword: as it is but better tracking
disc to warrent it’s low dmg output it should have a low bleed effect say on the 2nd hit it does 30dmg over 5seconds
Club must do more dmg than it does now since it’s speed is so slow everyone class in the game can just backpedal to not be hit by it i’d even say this club could warrent say flashbang effect on the 2nd hit because of how slow it is
but that’s it that’s what i’d say if you want i could post the current pred weapon dmg values if you guys want it for the discussion ive posted it in a few of the threads on this forum
