He started it 😒
GODZILLA (and other kaiju)
I really didn’t but it doesn’t matter, argument is done
He didn’t start shit. You did. This is you. You accused him of lying. Grow a pair, accept your fault, and drop it. Enjoy the figure. Or don’t. But enough tossing shade around.

Singular point, IMO, was boring. It spent way too much time on text conversations and math. The creature designs were mostly great (Rodan was pretty boring, just a Pterodactyl swarm) and as usual, not nearly enough Godzilla, but you shouldn’t need an advanced degree in Math and Physics to watch a cartoon.
Unlike the Planet of Monsters movies, which were way too human-centric to begin with, I fast forwarded through much of singular point on my second viewing. Once I knew what was coming in SP, I didn’t feel the need to sit through all the filler. Stuff like this kinda needs to KISS (keep it simple, stupid) with these concepts, like Back to the Future for example. That way, it keeps the story moving at a good pace and it doesn’t lose 80% of the audience.
Bruce Timm and that team should do some animated Godzilla movies and ditch DC.
Ok these were the worst
mechagodzilla city lookin ass
And they didn’t even use it! A whole mecha-G city, and they said Nah, it’ll be fine…
SP I feel is an acquired taste, much like the anime trilogy. You have people who like it a lot, who dislike it but like the designs, or just flat out hate all of it. And that’s ok, you know, that’s what being a part of a fandom is about. Its like Joel Hodgson of MST3K once said, “the right people will get it”.
I, myself, enjoyed it. I had to dive into other areas like reddit to get a more streamlined version of the overall plot, but once I learned it, it made viewing it that much more exciting for me. And I think its important to try new things with a series that’s been around this long. Sticking to a “KISS” formula can quickly make something stale. Also, I felt the amount of Godzilla was fine. People who excessively complain about screen time irk me a bit (not you, but others who either know nothing or forgot about the older films). Its like…does anyone remember the classic films, and how often the monsters, especially Godzilla, were on screen out of the entire movie? Its not a lot, lol. Like, out of an hour and a half, Godzilla is typically on screen for 30mins or less total. I think the longest was 43mins, I forget the film. So its really nothing new.
The toy was neat. Ish.
Well, in a series of about 300 mins (5 hrs roughly) I expect 1 solid hr of good, exciting Godzilla material. Other kaiju filling in with the other 4 hrs and plot. It can be the 3 forms of G that they did, like 15 mins of each proto-G form and 30 mins of Ultima with not a lot of cut-aways.
It’s the difference between The Return of Godzilla and Godzilla 1985 as well as Godzilla 2000 JP version and the US version. The JP versions were ok, had a good foundation, but the US versions were tighter, more exciting and cut together better. Also, the US version of G2K had better sound design and music, beefing up the original. It’s not THAT different, just tweaked to be at its peak.
I’m aware that storytelling in JP is quite different, being slower etc. For release in over-seas markets they should’ve gotten some US animators and perhaps the producer of G2K (Mike Schlesinger) involved. Because when the US G2K was re-released in JP, it was better received than the original.
MMMMmmmm…m.m.m.m…no. 99 yes, I will 100% agree with you. but 84, no, they butchered it. The only positive things they added were Raymond Burr and Christopher Young’s music from Defcon 4. They totally stripped the film of its anti-nuclear message and turned it into Cold War pro-US propaganda.
Cold War Prop, sure. No doubt. But you can’t argue that the pacing, cuts and order of the shots is better. I remember when I saw them back to back, I thought, “why this part now instead of later (when Maki Nyoko are running through the city, with the red lighting. It seems like the shots in the JP version are out of order.)?”
Pacing and whatnot, sure, I can run with that. It is a more exciting film. But just like the original and several of the entries after it, the removed the entire message from the movie and tried to tell a different narrative. There’s also some really cool shots of Godzilla’s reflection on the buildings that they omitted.
Not calling 85 a bad film, I grew up with it and hold it and my betamax version quite close. But from an objective point of view, it is a number of sites below its original cut.
We’ll have to agree to disagree here. I do miss any omitted shots of the titular kaiju, but since I’m a lifer with G, I could take or leave the messaging as Ive heard it many many times before. Nuclear weapons bad, nuclear power good is my view. That particular cat is out of the bag for good. It’s our job to figure out ways to use such a force for good, and IMO nuclear power is the best way.
I wish when Toho had released ROG on blu-ray etc, that they’d at least included G 1985 on a companion dvd, so I could nix my vcr once and for all.
But see, that’s what Godzilla is. An embodiment for nuclear horror. Man’s hubris, trying to play god. He’s been degenerated in the years since, only occasionally going back to the roots, but I firmly stand by that being 100% what he stands for and is mean to represent. Godzilla will always be this, as long as we continue to use nuclear energy in a careless way.
You can grab a pretty good bootleg of it off eBay and a few other choice sites. But I think the biggest reason why it hasn’t had an official release are rights issues, most likely with Christopher Young and the use of his music.
I agree, when Godzilla embodies that, when he’s more of an antagonist, he’s at his peak for me.
You know what’s funny, after years of it being a bad game, and I bought a copy of it long ago, and considering all the bad games we have gotten, and considering what Predator Hunting Ground’s has become. I find myself weirdly enjoying the Godzilla Ps4 game…sure destroying all the generators is annoying, but…I find myself having fun, maybe because the game isn’t a broken, or unbalanced, but gives me the variety, and freedom I wanted that I never got in Predator Hunting Grounds, I may be a Pred Fan, but I always love Godzilla stuff.
Oh I get the message. And I agree that careless use of nuclear power is not good. Careless use of anything is bad. But nuclear power is an amazing resource that should be utilized, especially if we ever want to get away from coal, or at least keep coal as an emergency backup source. Just like cars or airplanes, there’s inherent danger involved in anything, but with continued research and development of safety measures, there’s no reason NOT to use nuclear power. Godzilla will just have to be pissed off about something else. How about litter or landfills? Space monsters invading is always a good time.
G on ps4 is the closest thing to a full on G simulator we have. It may not be as action packed as G Save the Earth, but its still good, and yes, it does work and has lots of other stuff to it. It’s worth a pretty penny now, too.
