KOTM was almost perfect

Absolutely agree. KOTM feels like the best of all three eras mashed together, while GvK feels like a late-Showa smashfest that honestly is good for one or two viewings and that’s it.
GvK definitely had that goofy showa feel if that’s what they were going for.
The plot wasn’t trying to make even a little bit of sense and peaked at godzilla blowing a hole through the Earth to be like YEAH GET UP HERE COME ON BRO CLIMB OUT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH
KOTM had comparatively grounded monster interactions and the best soundtrack and visuals of the series. Some cutaways sucked, but atleast it wasn’t GvKs weird gopro wrestler headcam.
Altogether though, Legendary did great and put the right people together.
Godzilla 2014 was more of a disaster film
KOTM was channeling Destroy All Monsters/All-out-Attack
Then we got schlocky showa GvK.
I never minded the cutaways, from either G14 or KOTM. Having marathoned the series recently, I was reminded that a lot of the issues people had with those two films in particular, were already prevalent in many of the older films. And I felt G14 did a bit better with some visuals, pacing and anticipation. Also tone, G14 was completely serious and grounded in reality and I preferred that, then KOTM sort of made it half serious, half cheese, then GvK comes and makes it nearly 100% cheese. The MV suffers from Evil Dead syndrome.
Speaking of KOTM, here’s probably my prized Godzilla possession. This is actual poster from Tokyo Comic Con in 2018, not a reproduction. I took it to Monsterpalooza, a horror con in socal, and met director Michael Dougherty and the mocap actors for Godzilla and Ghidorah and had them sign it. Michael was there to promote the movie as it going to be out in a few months, SOOOO many people turned out for the panel, it was over capacity.
Godzilla’s actor TJ Storm was also the mocap for Predator in PHG, fyi.
If they had the clarity of GvK, and less cutaways, like GvK, KOTM would be one of the best Godzilla movies ever. The moments it has already are peak Godzilla. I hope when He returns with the MV, it’s a perfect blend of 2014s sense of scale, KOTMs epicness, and GvKs clarity and flow.
Ok everyone ignore what I just said 🙄 KOTM was only better then GVK but it was about these two Titans 😑
Also, Akira Takarada died today. He was called the Marlon Brando of Japan, starring in numerous high profile films during the 50s and 60s, and was the top star in the majority of the golden era of Toho’s tokusatsu films, including the original Godzilla, Mothra vs. Godzilla, King Kong vs. Godzilla, Invasion of Astro-Monster, Latitude Zero and Half Human. He would return to the franchise in Godzilla vs. Mothra 92, and for the final time in Final Wars. He filmed a cameo for G14, but it ended up getting cut.
This Patty’s day, if you’re a G-fan and engaging in some Faro Island berry juice, slam back one for the OG.
May he Rest In Peace.
I’ve seen GvK and KOTM over 50 times each and listen to them on my phone at work regularly
This is on the figures page, but here again is the Neca complete Godzilla collection, with Sh Monsterarts Biollante and Trendmasters 98 Godzilla guest starring.
And the Jakks Pacific 24" Godzilla 2014
The worst cutaway in the entire MV is right when G and KG have just begun throwing down in Boston and then the frickin Argo shoves its ass right in your face!! That one really irritates me to this day.
I recently gotten the first two hesiei Big G films 9 days ago now i just need to get the showa films
Noice. I have every neca still in box except the 89/02 variants and the NES and atomic goop versions.
I have the NES version with the og NES game, I have others I’m planning to sell
I open almost all my stuff. Can’t help myself

I am pretty low on the Godzilla toy count. Got a NECA 1954, Bandai Chibi Mothra from 2014, and a Deluxe Final Wars.
Lol which one.
