Happened on PS4 Pro, Derailed, south side of the map.
Although it happens on all maps, anywhere.
Later on I threw another grenade and saw it drop behind me.

it does if you don’t hold to throw harder…
You just button slam and it will drop at your feet. Which is a usable tactic in some circumstances.
Not aiming and just spaming a nade/flash/thermal/smoke it will drop at your feet
Look, I’ll give another try and see how it goes, but this time I’ll hold the button much longer. So I can test your theory.
No, on PS4 it’s a bug. You can throw the grenade far away without holding the button, simply by pressing it does the trick. But it bugs in place.
1st nade i held the button and flew away
2nd nade i pressed the button and flew away
3rd nade i held the button BUT dropped to my feet
4th nade i pressed the button and dropped to my feet…
