technically yes, but if you hack the game (modify game files) you can’t play online, so technically, while you can hack the game, you can’t play online with it, so everyone saying “hackers” on this game don’t know jack shit what they are talking about
Hacking servers on the other hand is entirely possible, but even a seasoned hacker will have trouble doing it and, like you said, why would one do it? game is easy as it is
