Hand Held Plasma Caster Needs...

Well this is going to be very long I apologize in advance but I recently put a LOT OF THOUGHT INTO THIS so here we go.

I think based in the current game’s state there is a Lot that could and should be done with the HHPC.

First off that ridiculous recoil needs to go away for regular shots(we’ll come back to this)
The recoil was fine the way it was before the nerf and should be reverted back period.
Now this next part could go many ways from here so I’ll include all my thoughts.

Idea #1
Add a Charge Function/s to the HHPC

If singular then it should behave similar to the SPC except with a slight change the longer you hold it a small bright colored counter begins to pull from your 6 shots until they reach 0 and then the pistol fires and would otherwise still more or less fire the same as now with less recoil; and reload the same way as now.
The charge could also be released before then only using the amount pulled from your ammo. To balance it you could add a range reduction based on the level of charge but the damage would increase and so would the recoil essentially transforming the Hand Held Plasma Pistol into a Hand Held Plasma Shotgun with varying degrees of power, range, and recoil.

The other way would be multiple charge functions that each drastically change the shot itself it’s range, damage, recoil and recharge and can be stored at each level, we would also remove the ammo counter for this as well(I’ll explain)
Instead of an ammo counter it could either have it’s own energy meter that it pulls from or it could pull from your energy I have an idea for both as well.
If it has it’s own energy meter then it should be cut into 4 provisionments and it should be a fill meter instead of a drain meter meaning the more you shoot the more it fills until you over load it and then you must wait for it to cooldown. This would be preferable for my idea below.
If it pulls from your energy then it should be similar but in a drain function instead of a fill making it more like SPC but when its equipped it adds 4 provisionments to your energy(I’ll explain why below)This way is not preferable but I included it anyway

So onto the charge functions themselves
No charge has almost no recoil a rate of fire in between the OG and now, shoots 5 projectiles at the same range as now and do half of the current damage but you can shoot all day until you fill that energy meter and it overloads, each uncharged shot would fill it an incremental amount and have a mini drain time allowing you to gauge the meter accordingly based on the frequency of your shots.
moving on there would be 4 levels of charge which you would activate by depressing the R3 button(or PC equiv) once pressed the pistol will begin to charge up to level one and cannot be fired until done but it is a passive charge that way you can move and Predkour and still swipe with Wristblades while its doing so and you can keep the charge until you use it; this removes a projectile increases the range, damage and recoil for one shot then reverts back.
Obviously from level one if you press it again it goes up another level and so on til max charge, each level removing another projectile, increasing the range, damage, and recoil. But at a full charge fire you suffer the overload no matter what but its 30% shorter than if you do so by rapid firing.
If in the scenario where it pulls from your energy each charge would reserve a section of your now provisioned energy meter and when used would instantly consume that section, if your energy is drained into that provisionment by other means you lose that charge and must recharge it.
when charging, the pistol would make a whining noise and emit a low intermittent beep when charged, each level the volume of the whine would increase as would the frequency of the beep, level 4 being the loudest whine and most frequent beep.

Idea #2 which is more likely…
On top of the reduced recoil mentioned way up there, basically just revert it more or less back to what it was before before the devs dumped a grumpy on it and maybe increase its damage a bit more and fix the projectile drop and movement as well.
See this one is Simple and requires little to no work at all which is why its short.
Again I apologize for the length I know it is extensive but despite its issues the HHPC could be AWESOME…right now it’s barely viable.

Except for the second and last one those aren’t combis, but for the sake of not having too many melee weapons they pretty much are

I think the first idea could and should be it own weapon. Instead of pressing R3 (because that’s what I use to swap weapons) maybe pressing/holding the the reload button could serve as the charge mode changer

Thanks man 😁 and a Plasma Shotty as its own weapon would def be righteous, but I assumed it would be easier to alter functionality of a pre-existing weapon as opposed to creating another one entirely.
And fair enough, I picked R3 because I also assumed most probably didnt map it as anything and neither did the devs plus as a passive charge function you could press it and forget it while hopping around and what not

Well if it was a completely different weapon the reload button would be open.
And since you can press the reload at any time already it makes perfect sense to use it

Ever since impenetrable became useless I’m rocking the handheld lol.

And it isnt a magical weapon lol.
It’s good, just not good enough.

I still prefer the pc, but dithered lens is too expensive to run as well I think.
I’d have to check.

However I can say vs the good players i go up against its definitely not a game changer or anything.

Also, remember when everyone thought handheld useless?
Ya I still liked it back then.
But I liked it cause it gave fighting As pred a different feel.

I felt like I was a bounty hunter lol.

As for what buff it can use,
I’d say either more damage, or less recoil with better accuracy.
Possibly make it just shoot only one projectile.

I’m not sure.
It’s missing Something, but it just needs a slight tweak.
