Hey Illfonic, can we try a patch without spotting?

A question for Illfonic: Can we try a patch without spotting and see how players take to it? I understand time and resources went into the development of the feature and it is beneficial for players without mics.

Can we try a marker on the compass instead? Can we try spotting only if Predator is uncloaked? I think a lot of people would be interested to see how the game plays out without it or with a modified version of it.
I personally think it would be much more tense.

Can we try it and collect feedback on it? Would you be open to that?

They are most likely internally play testing spotting and audio changes as those are two of the biggest feedback points from the community, I’m almost 100% sure we will see significant changes to both in the upcoming patch

I hope so its those little things that will change game play dramatically

I believe the pred shouldn’t be tagged at all, cloaked or not

the FT should only spot areas he his or was last saw

ultimately i would agree with that version of spotting. It might be a hard sell considering the current mechanic. I don’t know but I do think a vaguer notion of where the predator is would be scarier for FT and relieving for pred. It would allow for strategies like being spotted on purpose then jumping down and FT not knowing which direction you might then come from.

I feel only scouts and recon should be able to spot uncloaked predators, I also feel this should be removed on cloaking and have its base duration increased, but for this to work you would need to make overloads a more common occurrence, so give predator a damage reduction while he has energy(like 15-20%), lost on an overload, make mask shots not remove mask but proc an overload based on a damage limit(the system surging to to protect the mask)(the predator should also have energy drained while receiving damage period-melee predators more susceptible to overloads) and make mask shots on overloaded predators able to remove the mask(range predators less likely to lose their mask melee more likely and increased spotting duration would mean the FT could chase an overloaded predator effectively)

Spotting should have a max distance it can work within. I REALLY like the thought of only spotting while uncloaked. I definitely think pointing to an area is needed

ya not having the marker while cloaked might make it a little more manageable without directly buffing the cloak.

I dont think cloak needs buffing - just reworking. It shuld progress from 0 visibility to 100% cloak effect we have right now, with the increas of your movment speed. So stand still is invisible, sneaking is 10-15%, slow walk is only 30%, run about 70 and sprint 100% of the effect. Also from distance - moveing or not, pred shuld not be visable

i like this, would need to see walk or variable movement speed on pc.

you actually have tham right now, just need to use agamepad or mechanical key sensetive keybord to acces this mechanic. Its kinda cool! Hoever does not affect cloak at all ;-(

i have a gamepad but im not used to it and am much better aiming with a mouse. I even tried one hand gamepad and one hand mouse which i would use but the hints keep switching back and forth from the pc bindings to the gamepad bindings depending which input it received and i found it silly. ill have to look into this keyboard you mention.

I also have a game pad but its a nightmare to aim! Seriously PS4 lot, how do you not kill yourself like every day!? Any way, i orderd a gaming keybord last week with WSDAX pressure sensetive keys. It works like a game pad and allowes you to take advantage of different character (or vechiicle) movieng speeds, providing the game has them. And P:HG dose have tehm, in fact a huge range of sppeds is available - super slow sneek, slow snek, normal snek, fast snek, slow walk, normal walk, slow run… even has diffrent animations for them

does it register as a gamepad? when i used a gamepad + mouse the hints ( like to ascend trees or switch branches) kept switching from ps4 icons to pc icons depending which one i was using at that moment and it was bananas. Do your hints stay as pc hints ? if you understand what i mean. what is the keyboard you ordered? I will get one right now.

Eh, I just tweek my RS speeds until it snaps where I want it to with the muscle movements I’m used to and work from there, so it works much like my mouse, I dont have an issues poppin masks

i believe that, i get wrecked by ps4 players all the time. i havent owned a console since the first xbox and have no practice with the analog sticks so it feels hella weird.

As farr as I know it dose not register as a game pad, but I’m not sure myself, I will see when it arrives, bought it especially for this game XD

is it the wooting? i just looked at the functionality of that one and it uses xinput so you map keys to the analog stick behavior so it will probably be all janky with the hints. also apparently that keyboard you need to disable the wsad keys in the game which at the moment is impossible to rebind in this game.

hope that is fixed but im guessing the software can make the keys WASD do nothing so are not registered by the game.

I just think the game may get confused because some games let you use 2 inputs at the same time while others just swich MODE from gamepad mode to KB/M mode

The cloak should also, instead of rendering grey at long distances, it should just not render at all
