James Aitcheson"s Conquest Series starting with Sworn Sword is good, if you want to read some historical fiction that takes place after William the Conqueror takes Southern England but still needs to fight the English and the Danes in the North.

Quicksilver: Volume One of the Baroque Cycle, by Neal Stephenson.

It’s fiction but has excellent history about the math of the time and the historical figures of the era.
