So the billionaires lost a small fraction of their fortune?
History IS written by the winners
Yes, a few billion down the drain for a bunch of hedge funds.
Could maybe be the start of a shift of power
If more average people keep doing this
Would explain why they’re so upset
More regulations? No more betting against the market?
@Anyt1m3 it won’t happen. One firm that reports on stock shorts has already said they’re going to stop. Senator Warren sent a letter to the SEC requesting an investigation. Judging by the context of the letter she’s focusing on the Redditors.
Daytrade apps will change their services to restrict trades that could result in something like this. They’re funded by the same financial institutions that backed the hedge funds. This was a kick in the balls but that’s it. Now everyone regroups and slams the door on every day people playing in their sandbox
That sucks. I’ve never followed the stock market but it sounds like a gambling ring where the rich can pour munny in our out and cause fluctuations to make small guaranteed profits. But when the game if played more fairly, like this stunt, suddenly changes need to be made so the rich can keep playingva no-lose game
Exactly. Can’t play in the money pit unless you can pay for the rules. It’s bullshit.
The positive is the fact that the general public came together and realized the “Us vs. Them” battle that really exists is the elites who make the rules and the regular folk who have to play by them. If only for a few days it wasn’t about race or sex or gender or any of this other bullshit that divides us. For all of 3 days everyone just said “fuck you” to the real enemy and they actually heard it.
It won’t last, if it did then we could maybe start making some real changes. Sadly it won’t because it’ll all get spun around and we’ll all go back to fighting each other and they’ll go back to being rich. That’s just what I see
I’m no economist
But I think it would be smart to invest in App Harvest (hydroponic farming)
I second that. Expanding population, polluted or less rich soil, gmos still getting a bad rep, mars. Agriculture will have to go vertical.
It’s a blossoming industry so get in now while it’s still cheap
I guess it’s not going to be easy, Maxwell is not budging
It’s going to be a long court case, assuming she can’t get it dismissed (Some deal from Epstein’s trial had a protection clause in it).
There’s three direct claimants, a few dozen staff at various place that need to be interviewed as witnesses and hundreds of emails to be examined. Unless she gets an OJ jury, she’s going to end up in jail.
We can hope they accept a plea deal after a few court sessions and when it starts looking inevitable, she still might sell out others to spare herself time.
Hard to be hopeful but not pointless yet.
Lady’s a bit of a monster, if what one of the victims said is even remotely accurate. (I don’t doubt the victim, but believe ‘trust but verify’ is always the best policy.)… (should also add, I don’t believe that it’s a huge group of people. Doesn’t make it any less important we find them.)
For sure. I hope those women get justice.
Even though epstein’s case is closed, do you think his island mansion will ever get searched?
The victims make it sound like there were hundreds of girls and they he was super addicted. But the number of women who came forth, understandingly in part, seems low for this to be a huge operation, at least when trafficking is involved. I’m not convinced that the operation was big in europe at this point. His island is a big mystery and will likely stay that way until the mansion there can be searched.
Also, i think the plea deal epstein got in 2008 is for the crimes prior to that. So as sickening as it is, the law may protect her. But, if there is sexual exploitation of minors and trafficking after that, then I think maxwell won’t slip away and more names may come up.
One can only hope chomos are treated with the same disdain in women’s prison
I’m a bit against that. I don’t like that aspect of prison culture. Id like to see rehab work in prisons. While it may be too late for her to change, there no need for the other people there to lose even more of themselves
I know, too idealist.
I have no sympathy for these monsters
Broomsticks up the bootyholes of every single one of them
Wow, you guys all heard about the news too? I just caught wind of this on Joe Rogan today. lol
There are no gambling rings. Its legit investor groups, hedge funds, etc doing it anyway accept they aren’t using reddit. LOL
But the conflict lays in how and why and what they will do with the investment gains. If they are just going to buy bubble gum then the purpose lays in anarcharchy. If the gains are meant to fund other businesses and keep them afloat then you have some kind of purpose be it organisational, competitive or charitable/non profit.
But the whole reddit scheme is either a story drummed up or its real, either way we have no way of knowing actual data if none is presented. This could be a scheme made up by large corporations to get people talking. All the while they raised their prices on milk a few cents, took those profits and made this scheme up.
Reddit may be digital and fast, but i’m sure this is the same way Flash mobs setup dances. Think about how hard it would be to get people to fork over money to buy stocks. Lets not even talk about church groups conspiring.
But it makes you think how Governments are going to pay all those folks making the vaccines all around the world. I don’t see anyone paying for a vaccine. Anyone think the Governments have something to do with it?
Im not knowledgeble enough on investments to go into conspiracies, but it could be a possibility. The mass coordinated reddit move does sound a bit amazing, but it may be possible if buying/selling are just a click away.
But i think I see your point. If shares started at $2 and the first 75% of the money was used to buy them at that price, the new price after that would be $150 (for example) and then maybe people wouldn’t be so got for them (I don’t know if updates are real-time or not). For those last 25% it wouldn’t make sense to buy perhaps if they wanted to make a profit. But if the profit was not the goal, but just to expose/punish the hedge funds and the tactic of betting against the market, then it’s plausible that this is how it went down.
