Holy Crap AI Art called Midjourney is wowthefuck

so i just got rabbit holed into something called Midjourney, an AI company that specifically tailors things based off a written algorith. How it does it? I don’t know but if you google Midjourney and add ,lets say (which is what got me into it), thundercats into google images you get a wallop of eyecandy.

Whats strange is that it looks so real and they are mainly photo mashed superbly as if it were real!

Yeah, I’ve been using this, they’ve improved rendering algorithms significantly since they started

They have a dictionary of images it references interpolates multiple subjects and specified parameters

You actually don’t even need to be an expert to start getting good results but babysitting renders and getting 1:1 desired results as well correctly cross referenced user photos are the most egregious things

Its just an A.I. that generates art from the data that its provided.

Think of how games randomly generate dungeons or levels, ect.
It’s kinda like that.
It’s pretty cool.

the thundercats rendered stuff blows me away. I’m sure there is some tweaking involved from an actual person though however you can’t believe how many images i have seen so far that have 6 fingered people.

So youve used it, can you say how many image references it used? Could you easily show us that it is a mash up of sorts?

Don’t confuse this with the actual keyword dictionary, if you own an account you’ll have the ability to lookup keywords directly but above is already rendered

It’s pretty cool for generating absolute fucking nightmares and other various eldritch horrors. It’s like that guy who revolutionised photography and then started doing really fucking weird landscapes of surreal places and then offered no explanation lol

Thats a good analogy. But I do actually think that one can exploit the creation and then make IP from it.
The Thundercats, Dune and Ghostbusters in the shell is something I found mind blowing as a way to jump start the creation of a new product. Even if AI generated the concept of it, you can certainly go far with it and have real people produce the rest and market it as an AI driven idea with real people (obviously) making the production.

To correct myself: its not ai generated, its AI compiled. Never did the machine make it. A person asked for it, a person programmed the algorithms, a person decided to add this and that to make it cohere.
In the end, its a person who wanted it or requested it.

Well duh, it’s basically divine inspiration on a stick. I had to do an entire fucking unit on fucken ‘how the idea of genius has changed over time for artists’ (but seriously, fuck art history) and it’s literally this software lol

Some AI generated stuff I think its fake. at least some of it.
Some concept artists could submit their unpublished designs and then are asked to add a 6th digit finger and make it a painting or paint over…some of it is just so concept art like that its hard to distinguish. Makes concept artists feel sad or its the biggest shame.

There is an AI engine that mashes a persons face (like a celebrity) and deepfakes it onto another painting…much like @Arnie.schwarzewigger does it all the time.
Surely this AI art is probably part of the process.

Imagine that what it spat out looked soooo cut and paste that it for sure used a marque tool in photoshop. When you got the end product you would be like “i at least need to spend 10 hours painting it over”. This would STILL be an invaluable tool for artists. At the end of the day, I would rather try my hardest to use it to be more productive than to think that this was the work of the devil.

The AI is in tune with the singularity lol

We just need a BIGGER COMPUTER and BIGGER TRAINING MODULES but AI generation has made a ton of progress.

Artists are absolutely seething at AI art because like 90% of art is derivative and replicable. They hate tracing so they despise this even more. Especially furries, the furries hate it.
Trying to ban it is futile because eventually people will hardly notice the difference. Its only been a few years of GPT.

It’s the predictive text on your phone dialed up to a thousand.

Skynet compiles a database that can generate images, text, etc based on input and be trained on an algorithm. It’s bombarded with examples but not given specific task programming, so it generates thousands of random outcomes. From there it can be trained on ideal outcomes to filter the output.
Used for facial recognition and playing chess too.

The impossible problem is that it cannot innovate, just puts things together based on its training algorithm. Though sometimes that’s close enough to the real thing.

Its also forever limited by computing power. hopefully.
or people will try to use chessbots to win wars.
