How do you play as a sniper?

Hey all! Ok, this is probably a dumb question… but how in the hell do you effectively play as a sniper in PHG?? I’ve played as a sniper in a number of other games and love it but it just seems damn near impossible in PHG as the Predator is extremely difficult to track and take accurate shots at.

Do you stay close to the team or do you hang back and wait for the Predator to strike before taking shots at them?

I do great as a sniper except for when the Predator begins to attack the team. You just can’t keep your eye in that scope or it’s game over!

Any advice on how you play as a sniper? Thanks in advance!

One question, do you play with controller? If yes, then that’s your answer. Tracking with a controller is near impossible. Also, other games have strong aim assist, that’s why you see really good controller snipers in other games.

Yeah, I’m playing on a PS5. It’s extremely difficult to get a good shot on the Predator. I guess when he strikes I just need to go to my secondary weapon.

Maybe @Cptclutch117 @WS6_BANDIDO or @PlayStation_sniper can help you. These are some of the best controller snipers in this game.

Sorry man, I’m on PC. My advice would be irrelevant.

I only have this game saved I don’t really share content.
The entire team is snipers and the predator is a top console pred. So it’s a good game.

This is an actual game not just highlights.

What scope are you using the 10x? That’s a difficult scope to use.

Not exactly. There’s still hope for console players

I would use the red dot

Stay hidden at all costs and make every single shot count, because if the pred sees you, youre the first guy to go… speaking from a predators perspective lol its snipers first and supports second. It takes more effort but a good sniper can guard whole bases.

The OP doesn’t sound like someone ready to use a red dot lol.

Hmmmm well, then I would recommend the 6x

This is my latest video.
It takes some practice… slowly increase your sensitivity.

Wow this is a great match! Thanks for posting it!
You’re really quick on the scope for sure. I definitely need a bit of practice to get faster on it. Seems like quick scoping is a skill that makes hitting the Predator much easier for sure because rarely you will find them sitting still.

Use red dot. Faster response time.

Positioning is very important as a sniper, try to get your team mates between you and the Predator. Do not go close to the Predator unless absolutely necessary. Make sure there is no wall or rock behind you when dealing with plasma shots (less chance to be hit by splash damage). If you decide to get high ground, make sure you are covered by at least 1 team mate. If you are not covered, it is very risky because of how much of a target you become to the predator.

Do not rapidly spam the spotting button, when you see the predator in front of you try to hit it in 1 second intervals.

You need to make a decision about your secondary weapon. 1911 pistol is amazing vs predator at close range and makes you very hard to deal with for the Predator. SMGs and shotguns help out vs the AI.

When dealing with Predators up a tree, you need to learn the spots where your shots will not hit the invisible branch hitboxes. This takes a bit of practice. Usually it is at the very end of a branch or at the base of it.

Sniper wars!! >:D

To add to this, if you choose the 1911 you are going to use your Saw-Z against AI from time to time so you should know that the largest amount of damage is dealt if you shoot the AI in the groin. The heavy armored guys take 2 shots to kill in the head or chest, but will be killed in 1 shot if you shoot their groin.

I finally get to use this…
True though

I’m not on PS, but maybe this vid will help on how to play, move, when to take cover etc, as sniper.

Aim Assist is really bad on this game. I am in no way a good sniper, but have been trying to get better in the past few weeks. Here are some of the things I’ve learn:

STOP! Seriously. For me this is a bad habit I still need to master. If you move your reticle moves and the shot goes to hell. If you stop and stand still for a second the reticle is dead on.

Crouch. Helps accuracy specially with hipfire

All scopes are offset a little to the left, so aim a little to the right. The higher the zoom factor, the more offset it is, this is one of the reasons many snipers prefer the red dot, is the least offset compared to others. Also because you can aim faster with it.

Use assault with bane. You will do 120% damage so each shot you land rewards you better when you miss a lot. Try not to spot the pred. Most will start moving as soon as you spot them. A standing still pred is really good for target practice.

Shoot AI with it. Practice makes perfect. Use them as target practice.

Also, even the best snipers here can tell you, you will miss a lot of your shots. No shame. Half the time they get blocked by invisible branches.
