How in-game reporting (likely) works

First of all, reports of players out of your platform are null. That means, if you play on Epic, you can only successfully report other Epic players. If you play on steam, you can only successfully report other Steam players. If you play on console, you can only successfully report other console players.

Each platform will handle the report however they see fit. More than likely, they’ll take into account how many times you have been reported against how many hours you have in the game and how often and consecutively you are being reported. Given the fact that this game has crossplay and the player base being so small, you will unlikely be successfully reported or will be able to successfully report other player, on a constant basis. Once evaluated, it is highly unlikely that any platform will ever take action, as there is little to no evidence for accusations, and there’s no option to submit video evidence on any of the platforms.

TL;DR… stop the witch hunts. Stop the doxing. Stop harassing illfonic to ban players. They can’t do anything and individual platforms lack the insight on this game to ban anyone.

Suck it up if you think someone is cheating against you and just leave the match if you think is unfair.

Seems like a reasonable analysis.

Shouldn’t there be a better reporting system tho? Just seems like a poor quality control setup.

Considering that reporting happens often, should the individual services improve the procedure for it. Then they can figure out if there are problems or if it’s misunderstanding, etc. Looks like they’re just turning a blind eye and maybe making examples once in a while.

Also, wouldn’t you say that illfonic is at the center of all of this? If game plays properly, then there is less likelihood of cheater/hacker accusations, glitch/bug misunderstanding. The services can only do so much based on how the game plays, which is illfonic territory.

This ! Just boycott players with play shitty. And it doesn’t count just for exploits.

Essentially what you’re saying is, cheating is fine, if you dont like it, leave lol.

You’re probably still upset from our last interaction, but isnt that ridiculous considering on so many other games, you can get banned from that specific game?

Playing unfair has no consequences on this game. Its how it was balanced by Illfonic after all.

I dont think anyone should get doxed, but making people aware of cheaters I dont see as a problem.
So people can avoid them.

But, the devs of any game should still stay on top of stuff like this.

So the real question is. Why does illfonic allow all of this to go on?
I mean we know the answer, but yet another thing to add on to the list of why illfonic is a bad company.

They don’t care and don’t have enough people nor the resources to fix all this stuff.

Look a long while ago someone sent like dozens of videos showcasing how to replicate and explaining in detail several bugs/exploits on this game to Illfonic. Nothing was done. Its not happening.

where do you get this? is it like that on console?

Because on Steam I’m certain it isn’t. You cheat on Modern Warfare using aimbots and your whole steam account gets banned, not just the game. And I’ve read similar stories for PSN accounts. Sony may even ban consoles themselves because they have access to the hardware mac address and serial number.

No, That’s what you are interpreting. What I am really saying is, there’s no point in doing it as nothing will be done. Move on.

Regardless of what we may think illfonic can do, is not up to them. Like I said earlier, developers and game publishers do not deal with cheaters, is up to each individual platform to take action. It is like that for every game out there unless the game itself requires an individual account only for that game.

Are you serious?
Smite, destiny, warframe, and those are just off the top of my head. Usually to get completely banned you have to some drastic shit, like death threats or racism.

Like in warframe if you scam enough players I’m pretty sure youl get banned off the game, but not an entire platform.

I mean I can see the two going hand in hand, but I’ve seen it with some people who got banned off a game but not the platform.

So you’re saying that the game is fine and the cheating happens over the platform channel?

If they use VAC, their steam account will be banned entirely from playing ANY multiplayer game

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/668A-E672-832D-7D04#:~:text=When%20a%20user%20is%20VAC,where%20they%20can%20continue%20cheating.

developers will rarely issue bans unless they have an in-game account.

I’m pretty sure there’s probably some legal reasoning to it.

So lets say, unless illfonic forces you to create an “illfonic” account in order to log in and play the game, they will unlikely be able to ban you. They can’t ban your epic account because is not theirs. It has to be EPIC the ones who bans you.

Ok, but shouldn’t epic or steam have quality control over how the game plays and what would be considered cheating/hacking before they allow the game on their platform, and that would go back to how devs made the game?

Honestly you are asking stuff I don’t have enough information to even attempt to make an informed opinion.

Regardless of what everyone else can think could be done differently, all I wanted to bring up is that reporting cheaters/griefers/exploiters/etc will not do anything and the reasoning why it probably doesn’t. That’s all

That’s fine, I’m just asking since we’re on the topic. If it happens it happens and i guess the industry is fine with it. I think if this game had a following 10x of what it is, maybe those platforms would care more and there would be more pressure for devs to ‘fix’ the game. But, because it’s a bottomfeeder, they platforms devote a proportional amount of time to it’s issues, unless it’s something egregious and has multiple sources.

Not arguing that.

Very astute observations :)

I would be really awesome if illfonic implemented their own account method in order to “ban cheaters”, but then people wouldn’t be able to see what platform they are playing.

Bet the whole “Fucking PC cheaters” would go down substantially once the players can’t tell what platform are you playing on.
