Seems like, as always, people are complaining about something because they can’t deal with it. Just like the hook, the axe, the disk, etc., people now complain about bionic and the constant plasma onslaught.
Yes, it can be annoying and hard to deal with if you don’t know what to do, but once you get used to it, is not different than handling anything else.
First, analyze your opponent. There are mainly two types of plasma shooters, those who shoot fully charged ones and those who constantly shoot uncharged ones.
Fully charged plasma can easily be countered by standing still. Stand still until you know where the shot is going. It takes around a second before the hit lands. Stand still and as soon as you see the shot is taken THEN start sprinting to the side and jump. You’ll get splash damage, but nothing compared to what AI does, which is more annoying. You now have time to take cover behind a building, a tree, a rock, etc. since this type of player will unlikely take another shot until is fully charged again.
For players who constantly do quick shots you’ll need to keep moving, look for cover behind rocks, trees, vehicles, etc. If they are on a branch, get directly under them, they won’t be able to land a hit and the splash damage of quick shots is minimal.
For those players (like me) who like to get close and spam quick shots, countering it is fairly easy. You’ll be tempted to pull your knife out… DON’T, these players won’t engage melee and you’ll likely take too much damage before you can connect a knife attack. Instead pull out your secondary weapon (pistol or smg preferably) and keep shooting at close range. Use pistols or smgs as they can shoot faster and do more damage at close range than main weapons will. If you have an assault rifle use that as well when you need to reload your secondary (instead of reloading). DON’T JUMP!, you’ll run out of stamina and you need to be able to move quickly side to side. Keep your opponent on your sights at all times.
