I think the biggest problem is reinforcements.

Hear me out here: The predator has to work to kill anyone on the FT. Hitting them from distance is difficult and getting in melee range is dangerous (smg, shotgun, knife, etc). So when a Pred does take down someone on FT, it should matter. But with how reinforcements work, it really doesn’t matter, does it?

Tell me if you’ve seen this as a pred: early in the game some of the FT is screwing around by running at you with the knife out or shooting wildly or teabagging, things like that. Then you kill them and they get reinforced. They play differently now. So you really haven’t accomplished anything.

And I’ve never once seen a pred stop a reinforce. Not once. I’ve even followed FT to the radio, but they were able to stay just close enough to it with little map tricks that I couldn’t chase them out.

And they come back with full health and restocked kits? So if someone is carrying a med bag they have 3 full heals, 6 after reinforce. 6 full health packs for a single member?

It just feels like an insult to the Pred player. We get 2 lives, 3 at most, while the FT can have up to 7. I would understand reinforcement being so strong if there were 1-hit kills, but as it stands right now it just seems like the number 1 reason the Pred loses most matches.

Before you say GIT GUD or I just need more practice, I’d like to let you know that I’m level 100 and have played a lot on both sides, both public and private matches. I win more often than lose with my Pred, so I’m not just trash.

What do you guys think? I’m all for bringing back dead players in some way to keep them in the game, but it’s just too strong right now. Maybe they come in as a guest character (same as in F13)

i’m not sure how they can tackle your issue. I understand your view, but ambushing a freshly spawned team can be fun too… no?

I think first off, they need to actually come in via a chopper instead of just beaming in… yes, you can jump them but that can go both ways

OP, you get far more then 3 lives. Have you counted the number of pigs on the map?

The reinforcements are needed to stop fast wipes in randoms. If you make it harder you’re going to get even shorter matches. Try to trigger this mechanic just after you killed 1 man fast in the match (arrow, plasma caster, its not hard) instead of later in the game.

The packs have been nerfed. We only had 2 of those on the soldiers.

Also most of the gadgets you have are close to 1 hit kill. Depending on the class i noticed people going down to 2 arrows. Plasma blast is almost 1 hit kill. Just wait for them to apply mud, trigger objective or things like that. Charge it in a different direction (so they don’t see laser) and then blast them.

I agree that there needs to be reinforcements, but the timing is still off. There is not enough time for a predator to chase that single remaining player down to prevent them calling in the reinforcements within 30 seconds. The reinforcements should either spawn with 0 syringes/gear, only spawn 1 player e.g. CoD, or increase the time to call in players the more players are being respawned.

that just sounds like perfectly good lore accurate Pred weaponry ranged wise

really needs to be less like COD and arcade like and be more realistic

Though doesn’t it seem like part of the Pred’s gameplay should be whittling down the FT’s supplies? You can’t do that when they come back with full health and full gear. Even with the health packs being brought down it’s still rare to find a situation where no one can put down some packs at the helicopter.

Also, the bow is great but not nearly as good as you’re saying, Xan84. I’ve had plenty of times where I hit players with two headshots from the bow back-to-back and didn’t get them to go down. There’s some mystery to the Pred’s damage. I’ve had games where the shoulder cannon was incredible effective and games where I might as well leave it up to the AI.

Being killed by 2 arrows would be nice on all classes, because then you could actually stop FT from picking someone up. But if they have damage resistance and high health, they can start picking someone up and you can’t possibly stop them.

Also, I eat pigs all the time but it’s not the same in any way as reinforcements.

Watch really good predators play and you won’t think reinforcements are a problem at all.
Especially now that the pred can track down pigs and full heal every 1 min and 20 seconds.

Also now that med kits were nerfed so that half the classes can not bring them in their loadout with a syringe and those are the classes you need against good players for spotting and DPS.
I have been on another FT kick again after playing mostly only predator for the past patch and now when I run DPS builds to take out zerks I have to hope my teammates are cooperative team players and willing to toss down one of their 2 heals for me and half the pug games they wont do it…

Edit:this is not to say they need to buff fireteam but they definitely don’t need to take away reinforcement right after giving pred unlimited access to boars.

I knew this thread would devolve into people calling my skill/experience in to question lol

that’s if you don’t run into the bug that prevents u to devour or track em lol

Giving some advice is not questioning your skill. Its just as 95% fireteam player I am telling you what I hate the most when preds do. Again, with the nerf we only get to carry 2 med packs AND with the space needed for thise you don’t get to carry other stuff you need.
Reinforcements are absolutely needed in the current state to stop me (and many others) leaving when they notice that randoms are headless chikens not working as a team.
You get tons of pigs. Use those to heal. Look at the XP bar at the end even if you don’t kill all the marines and they escape. Most of the time preds have way more then the marines. Do i really win if I die and some other peeps escape?

Rushing in and spamming blades or your little stick is like auto pilot though especially now.

It need a change by the way, maybe remove their kit after revive, like having no ammo/health pack and no health stick can be balance.

Someone had an idea that i liked. Reinforcements should come back as a basic new recruit, or whatever. Basic loadout, not their original one. The current way gives FT a do-over for being shitty.

Reinforcements is not too much of an issue imo. Sometimes I completely steamroll the FT and I allow the last guy to call everyone back in so the round can go on longer.

What I do think is an issue is that I completely disagree that the FT gets all their ammo and resources back once they have been respawned. They should not get full ammo and all their gear restocked.

Correct me if Im wrong, but FT can only reinforce once per match. Also, if they choose to only reinforce 1 dead guy, they are unable to revive the rest after they died yes?

Sorry but that how it is. Lvl 100 scout/bow main and usually play against other lvl100 PC players (FT) and wipe them most of the time (have plenty videos of that). I even let them reinforce because most of the times team wipes end in 3-5 min…

PS Bow is insanely good lol (I play on PC btw)

Cool you got good analytics on it. Rainbow six siege have constant updates to nerf and buff weapons and characters even years after its release. I believe they do this by analyzing the win rates, pick rates of characters and weapons. A pvp game would always constantly scale to one tip or the other end. Lol I do not think Illfonic have the resource to analyze these trends though.

I think reinforcements make the game more fun as predator. Some teams are too easy to wipe, but reinforcements allows the hunt to continue. Against bad teams, I usually let one guy escape to reinforce, just to extend the match.
