I’ve been seeing a lot of fourm entries about buff Predator and, in some cases, nerf Berserker. While yes, I’d like to see Predator improved a bit, but rather than simply slap +20 health onto all Predators or something, we could expand the arsenal, drawing from past games and films to bolster the arsenal to a fairer state, I suppose.
For example, the devs could draw some weapons from the game Concrete Jungle, namely the Plasma Mines. The Fireteam Support has resistance to explosions; plasma mines could properly adhere to that, right? Seem decent enough, too; Pred can lay them around an area, and if a Fireteam member steps in one, boom. It shouldn’t be insta-kill, no, but at the very least, the very idea of them being out there should dissuade the team from running gun-ho into the next mission area, with the threat of explosives shredding them.
Another idea, perhaps, would be borrowing from Halo 3 with a Radar Jammer. A Gear item the Pred can drop down that would “scramble” the team’s radar, and perhaps even prevent spotting if they remain in the jammer’s radius. Still workshopping that one, but it “sorta” has the basis for a decent idea, I think.
I was going to bring up the Speargun, but from what I’ve seen, the Yautja Bow fills its role. Maybe something like the Falcon from Predators; the little gadget the Falconer Predator used. A little drone that can fly ahead and be remotely controlled, and be capable of spotting the team via its own thermal vision and, like many drones, get destroyed if the team spots it. So, with that, it’d probably need to be Gear so the Predator can have multiple ones.
These could all greatly use some workshopping, but I’m trying to offer suggestions to, I guess, appease both sides of the argument, because if we lose the Predator players, then the game fails, and vice versa if all the Fireteam Members leave. So, a compromise could save this game; something the Predator franchise deeply needs with the disaster that transpired in 2018.
Closing thoughts, it’d be pretty sick if they added the masks from Predators, but the devs did say they had something planned for the next month, so I’ll see what they say.
