If you still think the Pred is underpowered, you're doing it wrong.

I continue to see some really, really stupid stuff from the Predators out there. I just played a match against a Hunter and it was some of the most clueless gameplay I’ve seen so far.

  1. People keep complaining about the noise made in the trees. Well, the fireteam only hears you if you’re running around in the tree basically directly above them. Don’t do that. I probably spotted the Predator 80 times in the match, because he’d jump into the tree right above us, we’d spot him, so he’d run away and try the same thing again. When I play they’re lucky if they spot me twice. (Again, call me a liar if it make you feel better but I just don’t have trouble getting spotted becasue I don’t jump on fecking top of them.) The trees are for mobility. Closing the distance to the fireteam, then observing at a distance and waiting to strike. Use the trees, to find the fireteam, see what they’re doing, the circle in front of them to set traps or flank to poke or get downs with the caster, etc. Use leap to move to rooftops, or behind rocks and buildings if you’re trying to get close. You can’t expect the trees to just be some invincible haven where you can just safely dish out free damage. Keep your distance and they won’t hear you, if they don’t hear you, they won’t spot you.

The only time the fireteam is gonna spot you at a distance is if they’re lucky enough to look in the direction you’re coming from while you make a leap. You have to be close for them to hear you. Even if they hear you at a distance they’ll only get a general sense of where you are. Remember the closer you are, the easier the sound is to pinpoint. Again, you can’t stand right on top of them. Keep your distance and use other strategies if you just have to be closer.

  1. Don’t attack from the trees. They don’t offer any cover. The only exception to this is when using the bow as you can stay cloaked. Use rooftops, rock ledges and the side of buildings to set up a ranged attack.

  2. If the fireteam knows exactly where you are, don’t attack in the first place, and don’t keep trying to attack them from the same spot. You have mobility options like leap for a reason. Reposition and flank them. “You’ll never see him coming…” Remember?

  3. Slam. Use slam. Nobody is using this! I’ve won so many matches with this move. Spot the fireteam from the trees, stay away but maneuver in front. Then when they run beneath you or at least within range, slam down and wipe the team. I’ve gotten 2 downs with a well placed slam. I imagine in theory you could get them all if the were close enough together.

  4. Don’t get greedy. You have more health now but that doesn’t mean you should throw it away on the first claim. For example, hit them with slam but don’t claim the trophy if you can’t get it without taking a ton of damage. You can also wait for one of them to revive and then attack the other two if you want. Play the long game and get another down or two instead of going for the claim. You get more points in the long run anyway. Trust me. Watch Scout players. They finish matches with 10,000+ exp.

This Predator picked the dumbest moments to attack and kept using the same failing strategies over and over. He took SO MUCH unnecessary damage from the team, and still didn’t get dropped until near the end. It’s so forgiving now. The Pred is is great shape. You just don’t now how to use him.

Ofc. “use broken mechanic”, very “good” idea
This superhero leap of faith was invented only in this game and is not found anywhere else. It must be removed from the game. This is a game about the Predator, not about Superman.

Well then so must the Zerker and Scout, because I’m pretty sure they’re also inventions of this game.

Lol, you have no issue with the fact that the Pred can leap 15 feet in the air and jump from tree to tree but somehow if he uses gravity and discharges his energy stockpile to eliminate grouped up prey that’s too much for you?

It’s a good mechanic. Requires skill to pull off, and is maybe the best option the Predator has for breaking up a really tight knit team. It’s also not something I’m suggesting players spam. Just don’t forget you have it as an option if you need it.

I don’t disagree but the game doesn’t encourage you to do all that because it can finish in 4-5 minutes. I love to be stealthy and try to find the right time to attack when I am predator but most times I can’t plan and do what I want because the fireteam rushes to finish the objectives (with no resistance from the AI) and the predator rushes to stop them doing that. Things would be more enjoyable if the game had more time to hunt and be hunted

I can agree with that.

Typical zoomer. You are not a fan of the Predator universe. “Berserkers” are Predators from AVP (2004). And some kind of “Scout” is Folconer (example) from Predators (2010).

And they never had a superhero Thor jump with electro. That’s bullshit.

Lol minecraft good example its on the same lvl as this cept has more in it, maybe il do that have fun in matchmaking constantly fanboy dummys.

Agreed pred is NOT underpowered now. All they need to do now is make the classes slight more interesting both for fire team and preds.

I honestly think that Predator(I think he’s a bit op) could use some balancing like his melee needs to use more stamina. Right now it feels like Predator can just swing at the ft like crazy without consequence. You can pump him full of lead and it won’t even stagger him. I honestly think that Predator should be able to be staggered if the ft does a massive amount of damage in a very short period of time.

Oh wow, too many things to address here. I’m a huge Predator fan, which is why I don’t fuck around with trash like the AVP films or Predators. Saw those once and that was one time too many. The first film is a classic, the 2nd film is a pulpy junk flick but still fun. AVP was a garbage film made to sell action figures.

And while the Berserker design might have come from the AVP film, the concept of it as a class being different to other Predators is in fact an invention of this game. I missed the part in AVP where they explained these Predators where a melee class more resistant to damage…

It’s a videogame dude. Chill the fuck out. The devs can have some fun. There is nothing wrong with slam. You can disagree, but you don’t have to be a salty little maggot about it.

You’re both so salty. Can’t stand anyone with a differing opinion so you have no other option to attack. Must be hard to be so easily “triggered” in life. If you suck at the game so much, maybe you should be the one playing Minecraft…

I prefer him being a little softer honestly. At least the Berserker should come down a bit. Nerf the parry to make it cost more, but force him to pick his battles just a bit more carefully. I think his melee TTK is fine IMO.

The game was inspired by the entire Predator universe (including AvP). The only things here from the first part are cutscenes, jungle and mud. Everything else, including the ENT of the game, includes including the Predator 2018, the stargazer, etc

And something I don’t remember that in any film, book or comic book Predators knew how to make “electro superhero landings”
But apparently you a lover of Marvel/DC movies, but Predator not Superman. U understand, saltyboy?

Learn at least the game and its ENT before telling someone something, lol

This is just my personal opinion but I do believe those who say the Predator is underpowered needs to go buy or rent themselves the original Predator movies and learn the ways lol

i don’t think the pred is underpowered at all. most of the time now, it seems pretty fair unless you’ve got shitty teammates. too bad there’s no buff for common sense 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah, he was sneaky. Hit and run. I mean even when Mac shows up alone after Blaine’s death the Predator doesn’t kill him, he runs away, because Mac had his rifle trained on him and would have lit him up. He’s not invincible.

That being said I do think the devs can take some liberties. Buffing his health or adding little things to make him more viable is fine. I mean hasn’t each film or comic introduced something new? If ole butthurt^ doesn’t like slam that’s fine. If the Pred can jump 15 feet in the air and has alien technology I don’t see why he couldn’t use that technology to discharge a field upon landing to cause injury. I think it makes perfect sense within the context of his capabilities. I think salty-pants is assuming the Pred is causing all that damage with his Superman legs muscles. I don’t think that’s the case…it’s just his tech.

Anyway I like slam and I’m gonna shout it from the rooftops…actually I’m gonna go write a song about it.

Tell you what I DON’T like, that in The Predator he came to save us from global warming…now THAT’s some stupid shit.

Definitely, each new predator added to the franchise had a unique style and strategy. Some more similar than others but they all had a strategy and I think that’s the problem. A lot of people who try and play as the Predator don’t have any tactics based on the Predators stats and abilities. They tend to play like its call of duty or some shooter, just run and gun lol.
And in my opinion that’s kind of different though. What your describing fits within a Predators publicly known capabilities. What every one is demanding is more like increased health, and faster movement speed. So instead of having the actual Predator challenge or hunt. They’re just buffed and juggernaut there way through the match.
And ‘The Predator’…it had some good moments but yeah that ruined it, terribly. I’m a bit of nerd when it comes to Predator and the franchise and in no point have they ever done anything like that. I means that’s a category that doesn’t really fall into the Yuatja culture. Anyway, this nerd was disappointed.

I don’t mind the buffs to the Hunter and Scout as I think they’re still within reason and as long as the fireteam is working together they still stand a really good chance. But the Zerker can still play like an idiot and I feel like his gameplay loop is frustrating. He can still play like a moron, run and and get a kill, but then get put into 2nd wind and get downed shortly after. It’s annoying to get killed by someone stupid just because they have enough health to throw away their life on a free kill.

I will always agree with the constructive portion of your opinion, because I as the Predator use the net gun for a fairly easy team wipe. Berserker, net gun, Trapped perk for extended trap time, melee damage boost perk, and the extra gear perk (for an additional health kit to help out after some group fights)… I can confidently tell you that this set can mop the Fireteam within the first 3-4 minutes of a match. It’s gotten so quick for me that I’m not getting the XP I want by the end of it, so I’ve forced myself to wait to kill them until the chopper arrives.

The only time this doesn’t work is when there’s an actual group using communication, telling each other to cut the nets off. This happens… maybe 5% of my matches. The other 95% are some terrified scoundrels who’d rather continue shooting into my gut than help their team member when pinned.
