Illfonic, I’ve turned crossplay off until spotting/marking is sorted

Your idea still leaves spam spotting a 100% invisible predator very likely to happen unfortuantly.

Once you are spotted, other FT just keep doing it until it ceaseless…there is already a cooldown as the game stands, so another cooldown solution is not the answer.

I believe to stop the ceaseless spotting and give back Predator his cloak, a 100% invisible Predator should not be able to be spotted…you can shoot in his direction of course and hit him, which happens to me and is cool because it’s like the original movie.

Also seeing a highlighted Predator through walls needs to go.

Just make crouching 100% invisible instantly I dunno spotting isn’t too much of a problem for me.

The cooldown could be a shared cooldown for the whole team. Just throwing the ideas here, if the real problem is to stop that abuse of the spotting function.

The “spam” spotting problem can and should be solved without having to eliminate the option of being able to spot an invisible predator, which the fireteam deserves imo. If I’m playing as predator and I attack or do something at a moment that reveals my position I think I deserve the risk of being spotted so all the team knows exactly where I am, and I will just reposition until safe. I don’t see any reason why being 100% invisible should also make me immune to spotting.

Also remember not everyone uses mic, and spotting also works as a way to alert the rest of the team of a discovery of one member of the team, so “shoot in that direction” is not a solution.

Regarding the wall thingy, many things in the game go through walls and roofs, will see how that ends up. I don’t find it particularly annoying since the highlighting goes away fast. Also soldiers get a taste of that too with location device making them visible through walls or anything, so sounds fair to me.

I know right? On PC we don’t have to communicat or plan, we just spam spot, its stupid as shit, honestly Illfonic you must be aware of this marking cloaked pred problem, why are you not reacting?

This is currently in the game already.

How much is that cooldown? Also, is it a shared cooldown for the team or an individual one?
Because you shouldn’t be able to spam something that has a cooldown and apparently there are people experiencing that problem.

No its short and its not team wide.
ur post was too long didint read xD

But i agree after reading it that make it team wide etc etc.

It might be game braking for ps4 players thou since they dont see anyhting anyways or hear anything and cant turn etc etc.

A team cooldown deserves to be on the table for consideration. Nice idea.

Do you play Predator (I’m not trying to be funny)?

If I’m playing as predator and I attack or do something at a moment that reveals my position I think I deserve the risk of being spotted so all the team knows exactly where I am, and I will just reposition until safe.

If you play Predator, you will know that players trace the arrow, disc, laser aim back to you…they don’t need to spot, they just shoot.

I don’t see any reason why being 100% invisible should also make me immune to spotting.

Because it’s pointless being 100% invisible…how is it that you walk into a room and go “hey you, invisible guy, I see you all highlighted”. The devs put it in to no doubt allow Pred to stalk, hunt and ambush…its useless when spotted.

You should be able to spot a moving cloaked partially visible predator, for sure, because you can see him quite easily after all…the opposite to not being able to see a 100% invisible Predator.

Also remember not everyone uses mic, and spotting also works as a way to alert the rest of the team of a discovery of one member of the team, so “shoot in that direction” is not a solution.

You can place a marker where you think the 100% invisible Predator is…everyone on your team can see it. Predator won’t of course.

Regarding the wall thingy, many things in the game go through walls and roofs, will see how that ends up. I don’t find it particularly annoying since the highlighting goes away fast.

FT aren’t Supermen, they can’t see through walls. Being able to see what direction I’m going in only encourages Fireteam: Hunting Grounds

Also soldiers get a taste of that too with location device making them visible through walls or anything, so sounds fair to me.

Lol, a motion detector detects motion which makes sense of course…spotting a 100% invisible predator even once let alone ceaselessly is nonsense, lead to me turning off crossplay and I have no doubt it’s led to other PS4 players turning it off too.

@Illfonic, @Courier you should be encouraging crossplay, something I want to help with! Plus it means quicker matchmaking too (in theory).

Yeah, I play predator and fireteam which I think is necessary to see both sides of this game impartially. I assume you do too.

I agree spam spotting has to go even that in ps4 it is not abused that much for some reason at the moment. The only way I see to remove it without collateral damage to other things is some kind of cooldown or limited use. Let’s see if someone brings other ideas.

As I said, spam spotting and the possibility of getting spotted while being 100% invisible are two different things. If you eliminate spam spotting with my solution or any other one, you shouldn’t be afraid of the team being able to spot you while you are 100% invisible because not only it will happen less often, but if they do, that will not come from abusing anything, instead it means they actually deserved it and found you in a correct way by looking at your projectiles or any other clue you are leaving (instead of just scanning the area pressing R3 which we all agree that makes no sense), which maybe means you are being predictable or staying too much time on one place and it’s time to reposition with the mobility predator has.

I wonder if pred spotting is a pet mechanic of one or more of the devs, and they just won’t ever see reason about it.

Lol, no, search “spotting”, we are not all being predictable.

For me it’s simple: You cannot highlight a 100% invisible alien that you as FT know nothing about. Oh wait it gets worse…you cannot continually highlight a 100% invisible alien you know nothing about over and over and over and over and over.

Predator already has a limited time frame to make hits and try and kill you once — no sorry, TWICE — plus as a Scout with next to no health I can’t keep trying to continually reposition because 4 guns following me around and shooting at me leads to two inevitabilities: (1) I get hunted and killed (2) I get frustrated and bored at not being able use cloak at all and actually be Predator.

I see the idea behind spotting…but look, there’s this PC meta now, something PS4 casual players thankfully have not heard about and started to abuse.

The “continually” will be solved if the spam spotting is regulated with cooldown or other similar solution.

We can agree to disagree with the other thing. I think your body being 100% invisible shouldn’t prevent the soldiers from spotting you and telling the team if it’s obvious where your position is from other information and they point there to alert the teammates, having mic or not. You move, leap and reposition. Spotted state won’t last forever. The “I am an alien they know nothing about” sounds like a bad argument to try to get rid of spotting when invisible, if you ask me.

I think spotting might be more problematic in general to some playstyles than others. A 100% invisible predator not being able to be spotted would only encourage to stay still more time and shooting from that position. Imo the game now encourages combined strategies and not doing that (or anything else) for long, which is fine. Keep moving, in and out, short engagements, be stealthy and stay still for a while but reposition before they guess where you are, etc. Spotting regulates one dimensional strategies imo (either too aggresive or too passive).

This is a compelling and reasonable answer for keeping predator spotting.

Not fully convinced that pred spotting shouldn’t be shit-canned, but this is very good.

When in doubt, blame a PC user. I blame them for lags in my games.

This is my usual score card…

Player 2 (PC): 3500 /0/ 6324
Player 3 (PS4): 25 /0/ 2890
Player 4 (PS4: 1 / 1 / 4380

It’s insane the drastic change in gameplay PC players have and advantages due to how smooth this title runs on PC systems and struggles to run PS3 graphics gonna PS4 Pro…

Turn off crossplay, fix the game so its amazingly playable on both ends, then have at it with all three crybabies needing the crossplay.

Games existed before this feature ever existed and to think this should be priority over boosting the context and content of the game is insanity

Too bad this is the tactics they are choosing to deliver this game through. Underselling to make everyone upset, then over deliver in the end. Hopefully we have enough people playing can

Not even by an okay margin.

Obviously game is suited for PC and has been dumedd down to suit console instead of properly coded to enhance the game.

Every gamer and streamer they have been pushing have been running this game on PC…

Every piece of film weve seen is suited for PC.

I feel like I went to McDonalds for the first time expecting that Big Mac on the infomercial I saw

and got a “wtf sandwitch” …

Hopefully I eat my words one day… pun intended… cause of the big mac joke…

Always has this dichotomy between console and PC existed. Always. Laudable it is to crossplay, but consequences there will be. Yes.

Spot button is easier to mash on a keyboard tbh. Same with getting out of nets. Meanwhile you guys have to move your fingers off control sticks.

Games very much made with only console in mind
