I have to disagree with you on the usage of the word gringo in Latin America, maybe here in the USA I can see how people use it as and insult, but in Latin America is simply used to describe a white American (from the USA), because we don’t have many, if any other words to describe such people. Now, the word Yankee in Latin American is used to insult gringos who go to our countries just to fuck shit up, so Yankee would be used as an insult, but gringo is always used harmlessly.
That’s just my experience, others can disagree.
Also, the word Hispanic has a bad connotation in many countries of Latin America, we rather call ourselves Latinos. I don’t think an explanation is needed as it’s historically obvious.
