Illfonic, why did you nerf the Plasma Caster charged shot?

There are already a few threads about this but I’m gonna reiterate this anyway.

You tried to market the idea that a Predator who runs in clawing and scratching a Fireteam that sticks together would get melted. Tanky Berserker build with combistick disproved this. Makes sense that you’d nerf the combistick for a 2nd time.

But why in the world would you nerf one of the most viable ranged options for the Predator? Considering that it takes a long time to charge (which the Fireteam won’t give you the luxury of doing), it gives your position away AND it requires some clever lead time on moving targets since it’s projectile based, landing fully charged shots which directly hits and one shots Fireteam members was a truly satisfying and rewarding experience - no easy feat to pull off.

Why did you take that away?

Because blind and deaf FT was easily wiped by PC. Because this game is not about balance and not about Predator - it’s “from humans to humans, feel yourself a savior of the World - kill a Predator!”

Exactly this… I was getting the hang of hit and run tactics with my Hunter, used ranged weapons only. Now I have to fire multiple shots, giving my position away. I swear the Devs want the FT to win every game.

I second this. One of the only dumb changes in an otherwise great patch.

The weapon is only for difficult to land one-shots. Requiring it do more than one shot just makes it a worse bow that gives away your position dramatically.

It would be one thing if they had reduced the healing the Fire Team can do to make chip damage more viable, but they havn’t. As it stands if you don’t down someone they will recover quickly.

To behonest… I didn’t find it nerfed at all. From my recently FT playthrough. My team got sniped down by Preds. We’ve managed to win because his controller lost connection (Godbless the man… he’s very good which is sad that he just have some issues with his controller and then poof got gunned down.) He managed to downed three of us and nearly downed me. Full Support FT. Each have like 180 health and guess what? They got downed in a matter of second. And he probably use Berzerker that’s why he’s so tanky af. Just my perspective from my recent FT playthrough though. Gotta try my own Preds.

Well buddy…it IS nerfed, disgustingly so too. Ruined the entire game for me, so i wont keep playing this.

One shotting someone by having good timing and aim and leading targets felt GREAT, now we cant even do that to what was already a pretty skillbased weapon.

Is that why the buffed the predator and nerfed the fire team across the board?

Personally I felt it might have been a bit too powerful so I’m not too bothered by this.

I was a bit disappointed when I was “playing with my food” so to speak, and downed my two buddies playing FT in single shots.

I think it leaves them low health which is just going to make them burn through styrettes as a trade off.

They nerfed it because it was OP, you could easily down the fire team with one shot, then dead with another. You would just down one and wait for the others to go revive him then get him and another person.

If it was a movie it would make sense but as it’s a game there needs to be a balance to avoid games ending quickly due to the predator hiding behind cover changing a shot and popping out killing people with no damage felt to himself.

They’re trying to get you to mix up your play style. People were pulling off full charge skill shots with mouse and keyboard with ease. The bow is now easier, the net is now better, the heavy hitter guns do less up close, and now there’s a blind with ground pound and second wind. If you don’t know what to do with those things you’re not a good Predator.

I myself do not really understand. Maybe in order to one-shot the enemy you now need a perk? Onions, by the way, got better, but something tells me that the perk still doesn’t work on it.

I used the Cannon as my main weapon, never felt it was OP, it did what it was suppose to do, down FT members for landing a perfect shot with a slow projectile against fast moving targets.

Same goes for Snipers then i guess, why not nerf that? They can fucking oneshot masks off, and the bullet traveltime is 0

They did nerf that. It takes longer to shoot off mask now. Also for me it is quite OP. It downed Full health support with ease. Now with nerf it still packs a punch. From 180 to around like 20 - 30. And then you can follow up with bow or melee. Didn’t even mentioned that I have my health increased to 190…

Pc predators had no problem hitting nearly all of their fully charged plasma shots. They did buff lesser plasma shot damage and gave FT less med kits with higher requirements so they probably mean for you to poke em a few times and scurry off.
Especially with more boars with isolation now don’t have to worry about scouting them forever as they fly into the sunset laughing at you.

They want the FT to win? Did you not see all the other nerfs they received or did COVID-19 making everyone blind now?

I really only used the plasma cannon because it was the best way to take them out and I found it OP, and I think it did deserve the nerf. It wasn’t drastic or too much because now it just takes 3 shots instead of 2.

My biggest problem now is the amount of objectives the FT has. They blow past them in LITERALLY 3 minutes, im not joking.

Up the objectives list, its 3 now, make that 5, gives us some damn time to play the game.

I’m sorry I just don’t see why removing 1-shot downs is a bad thing especially since the predators received a lot of buffs and the FT received a lot of nerfs. It makes no sense to me from a balancing stand point to decrease the amount of damage taken as well as decrease the amount of damage done by FT weapons and still keep a 1-shot Down weapon at all times. Mind you I’m a pred scout main and this seems to be more in line with a hit and run play style than a get a player instantly down and camp their body play style. Also one of the main bugs with the PC seems to be fixed (haven’t tested myself yet) and that is the PC shots being blocked by invisible walls, that alone makes it easier to hit a FT member which would make 1-shot kills that much more common.

Unrelated but to those that complain that predator clicks too much and as a result is heard it’s only because of being cloaked otherwise you’re silent so long as you’re not running on the ground. You should only cloak if you’re spotted to make it harder to shoot you as you run away otherwise as the predator you’d be entirely silent, invisible, and capable of 1-shot kills and that to me seems pretty OP.
