I'm gonna throw this out there...

So many threads and posts I see are about how “this shouldn’t happen, a Predator is a killing machine, you cant parry it with a knife, plasma canon should kill in one hit” etc etc etc…

Most Predator fans seem to want the game to be balanced around the premise that the Predator is a killing machine that a human cant withstand, and basing that logic on the movies they adore (I adore the Predator movie too)

But this doesnt make for good balance in a PvP videogame.

If they wanna make it super realistic let them. We have access to a .50 cal. There is no predator available in game that wouldnt die 1 hit to that. Doesnt matter where you would hit them either, you are taking that limb off. Movie predator had to heal after 1 bullet to the leg. A .50 cal leg hit would mean that predstor isnt walking ever again. Body shot? Desd predator. Head shot? Well obviously there isnt gonna be much left. Even an arm shot would cause the predator to be unable to hunt again. If people want movie predator so absolutely bad. That gotta take the bad that comes with it: predators are lightly armpired but heavily armed, they csnt get shot like how people think or want them to.

Neither does a 4vs1 senario think about that

I like this. Hardcore mode. Only change needed would be to slightly increase objectives and timer to give pred a chance to set up an ambush due to camo being worthless on the move.

I see whst you’re saying. I do… but this isnt a normal PvP game like Fortnite or CoD. Where both sides need to be perfectly balanced. This is an Asymmetric Game where one side(the big guy) is supposed to be stronger than the other side(the little guys)… the little guys in this case are the Fireteam. And the Big Guy is the Pred…

A Good Asymmetric game knows there is a balance. You need the big guy to be an oppressor that pushes the little guys along, and punishes them when they make stupid mistakes like running off on their own, or try to fight the Big Guy alone…

The little guys need to work together to win…

Personally, i don’t think this game is where it needs to be yet… i think the little guys could use a bit more shrinking(figuratively speaking)

I think the balance will be right when matches ending in all 4 Fireteam players surviving reaches less than 40%, and matches ending in Pred deaths wherein FT successful secures the body are less than 25%…

If you make an Asymmetric Game, but your Big Guy isn’t scary, you failed at making an Asymmetric game… and the Pred isn’t keeping me up at night yet.

You are missing a very crucial detail here. If the Predator isn’t stronger than even just individual Fireteam members then why even bother? It is four on one. He is already at numerous disadvantages based on supply and numbers and all that, and that is fine, but he needs to be capable of overcoming that differential reasonably. Otherwise what’s the point?

Yeah agreed, but this point does not hold up against the parry issue. The game is meant to be balanced around 4v1. Meaning 1 pred= 4 FT. So when there is a mechanic that effectively lets you engage the Predator in 1v1 melee combat and win, now it’s each FT Member= 1 Predator. Not so good. At the moment, a good FT that’s communicating will kill the predator if he does not play his cards absolutely right, with 0 parry needed. When you add the parry, man oh man.

Like it was said, this isn’t a “1v1” PvP, but a 1v4 PvP meaning one side has to be really powerful while the other has to relly on numbers.

You’re right bro… If the big bad one does not make you run for your life if you’re alone… Someone fucked up somewhere in the writing process

The problem is you cannot balance it 1v4. How many times do you have a retarded teammate? Lets figure an even 50/50 split of tard/good…

How do you balance 1v2, and not have 1v4 good be overpowering?

This is their problem.

If you’re playing a 4v1 asymmetric horror game and the 1 is being hunted by the 4 that game isn’t good. That was the case at launch, right now it feels better but I do feel FT is underpowered

It also all comes down to skill of the players, let’s say across the board this happens, so things become “balanced”. However as time goes on and the skilled players stay and less skilled move on, we are gonna notice those numbers shifting towards the fireteam again as more and more skilled fire teams matching up against the predator, would this require rebalancing? I dont think skilled fireteam need to be punished and constantly nerfed in favor of the predator, things still need work currently, but people are getting into the curve of what is new and how things are supposed to be now. It is hard for a fireteam member to 1v1 a predator in melee or ranged, which is good. 2 members? Far easier, 3 or 4? Predator needs to be careful about positioning, which is how he is supposed to be. Too many fireteam members want to be able to be super Arnolds and be THE badass, and too many predators want an easy game where they pretty much are a god, I hope the devs dont look at that minority of players and balance the game for them, that would be worse than anything else I believe. We got mostly good, with a bit of bad and an ugly (looking at you grenade launcher) with this patch and I’m really excited and happy to see how far the devs will take this game. Hopefully another balance update before the first content drop is what I’d like to see.

I have to agree.
But honestly I dont think them realize that in the movie it was a squad not 4 people lol maybe if there were 8 ft members then you could justify the pred being able to 1 shot.
But theres not and they have a game to sell!
In the movies the pred is stroooong as hell, way stronger then any Arnold. If you were able to rip through a 4 man FT where would the fun in that be? The games would be super short and new players would quickly leave because they couldnt handle the learning curve. Simple as that.

I think the pace of the game is heading in the right direction. Not to fast not to slow.
I personally let people revive if I catch Ft members out in the early round.
Why?
Because im not a dick lol
and its not any fun for both sides. Especially if they are newer players! I like to drag it out and make it fun.

It has to be fair for both side honestly. There shouldn’t be a sure fire way to win on either side.

I think people are just having a hard time with the pred and or going up against better fireteams.

I agree, skill plays a role, some are complaining that the predator is weak I personally think you just suck as the predator if you’re telling me that, I rarely lose at all. From my experience the fire team needs a slight buff, even a team that sticks together is at risk of getting wiped out

Damn I’d love to see a bigger squad ! Even if it means nerfing the FT again ! I’d also like to see a mode where you start with nothing and got to equip yourself to escape/kill the predator. They could even add some kind of traps an under geared FT could use to hurt the predator/unmask him :P !

The buff I want to see is the med kits and ammo packs brought to a weight of 4, grenade launcher either get is impact back, or when you fire a grenade you self detonate it by holding the trigger down then releasing the trigger, thus slowing its rate of fire but allowing for some cool shots. Predator vocal sounds need adjustment but not its foot steps I think, it’s a big as fuck, of course it stomping and sprinting is gonna make a lot of noise. Fireteam spotting needs a small nerf, nothing back breaking though.

None of that has really made a difference imo like playing as the predator first hand none of what you brought up has effected me ya know ? Med kits take too long I wipe while they heal, picking up a downed teammate takes awhile so I wipe them too.

Tbh by the time they’ve spotted me it’s too late I’ve already set my plan in motion and I’m on the hunt so for me spotting hasn’t made a drastic difference either, you also have to be extremely accurate to spot the predator long as you keep moving unpredictably they’re gonna have a difficult time spotting you

ITS A FUKING GAME

stop complaining its balance inmo

That’s goodness I’m glad to hear this actually, high level predator play is nice to watch because of how understanding they (you) are of your surroundings and how to play the predator without dying because they want wanna melee rush 4 guys with guns. I havent actually had an issue spotting predators myself. I’ve been playing recon or support and while my team is doing the objectives I’m on overwatch. My friend is bug out guy, a scout class that supports me by shooting the predator when I draw it in by running off on my own (obvious trap is obvious for you I’m sure). When predator drops to get me, I’ll focus on parry then we drive it off with shooting it, not aiming to kill, just driving it off so we can continue our mission. If the team gets downed my friend as the scout has second wind to book it to the revive and get us back, hasnt failed yet, but predators go after what they see as the easy pickings when I go off on my own. Are you on ps4 by chance?
