In the End? PHG Sequel.

I’ve thought the same occasionally when it comes to armor. So many FPS games have armor mechanics, and I think having armor and health separate with pros and cons for more or less armor would be a very strategically engaging mechanic.

Numbers don’t lie. I get it’s not for everyone, but it’s extremely popular even after 7 years.

From what I remember, it seemed to me that Lazy wanted a completely different game. That was probably why I started to disengage a bit from his threads.

Also, yeah, I started a new thread. So what? For those of us that have stuck around to nearly the third anniversary, why not consider amongst each other our expectations for a future game, and the biggest failures of this one. The rest of the threads here have been pure trash.

Nice. That would be an interesting way to balance the DPS of 4 v 1.

The rest of the threads have been trash? You’ve made so many complaining about pred when ft has the advantage, that’s mot stupid?

Yeah and what we all talked about on that game is pretty much what everyone wanted.

That’s what people want. Even @moralez said it, make the pred an actual hunter. Pretty much what he said was what we covered.

And no shit. If it’s a sequel, its gonna be a different.

Why not take everything we’ve already discussed, that most people wanted, and throw it into the mix for consideration?

If you want to take it a step further, you could even have the damage decrease effect lessened by a bit for each ft dead. That way there is some advantage for sticking together when there are like 2 ft left, but spreading out still does more potential damage at a higher risk.

I think giving the choice of having a lower risk and lower reward or a high risk high reward system where both choices are equally valid and useful would be much more fun than the current game state, as you can greatly vary your tactics, and the interplay with various pred builds/playstyles would be interesting.

Damage ramp up/falloff could be shown by bars kind of like cellular connection bars to give a visual indication, so people can make the most informed decision on the mechanic.

Game would benefit from more weapons, maps, game modes, classes but phg biggest problems all go down to bugs, mechanical issues, balance, meta. An anti hacking system that works, bans for people that actually hack on the game.

The predator itself should be better than what we got on phg, the fireteam hunting predator is like the norm in most cases unless braindead potatos.

Lazy was wanting this game to be completely overhauled, which just wasn’t in the realm of possibility. Those elements for a future title would have been fine, but I was focused on discussing what would make this game more fun.

The reality is both sides have balance issues, and they are more or less evident depending on the skill of the players, whether they are new or veterans, whether builds are synergistic, etc. If you want to take any single suggestion out of context, that’s on you, but I’ve acknowledged for a very long time that given equal skill and understanding of the game, the balance is firmly Fireteam biased. Something as simple as Buff Pred, nerf FT, isn’t going to make the game more fun, accessible, or genuinely balanced.

Even moralez??
Śh|t i have been saying this since the beginning.

No. What most people, you included, was defending was buffs here and nerfs there. Like you’re agreeing with this “Mortal Kombat in the jungle” gameplay style.
This should be a stealthy hunting game in the first place and go on from there.

The whole conversations with lazy were about making the game play like wildlands, which is more stealth focused…

I’m the only mothetfucker who remembers everything discussed about this game.
Seems like I was the only one who truly gave a fuck.

You really don’t remember anything do you?

The suggestions were to make it play more like the movies and focus more on stealth.

I expanded on that, cause the game playing like a stealth game, wildlands for example, where you led have to be careful in the the missions against the A.I. and the pred.
The game should always feel like a high difficulty stealth game.

You kept only adding nerfs to pred for the longest.

Meanwhile I suggested different classes, gear, abilities, ect. Tho I wasnt the only one.

You said for a sequel.

Well, just to make it more clear. Take everything everyone suggested, discussed, and put it into the game.

This wasnt just a few people. This was a lot.
Why ignore so many good discussions, with good ideas?

That way the game isn’t as plain as this one.

Like you actually know what "a hunter’ would act like if it were an alien? So mortal Kombat isn’t good? jeebuz do you not know what you’re asking for.

I swear you sound so dumb right now you don’t even know what kind of game you’re playing.

Remember what this game is based off of.

Go play deer hunter and come back and rewrite everything.
and if you still don’t know wtf i’m talking about play CAPCOM’s AVP then come back and rewrite everything. Clearly the adrenaline rush you’re coming off of is from playing some kind of deer hunter zen game. Predators aren’t hunting game for lowering their cholesterol.

Welp at least you aren’t peddling that deer hunter bullshit making it less mortal kombat…which I think we need more of especially on the predator side. Its the one part of this game I like otherwise there is no character to the gameplay. considering that language is a limitation for an alien and suddenly we Moralze is trying to make this game rated EforEveryone.

You want more combat focus?
I made a suggestion for that too.

I would saying hunting ‘things’ would be an extenion of the game. a world map and possibly hunting objectives in a huntable world. Although I guess Moralze was mentioning the stealthy bit because I suppose this is where that would be needed. But it shouldn’t for what i’m about to say.
Throw in the Fireteam and it becomes PHG humans vs predator in the short 15 minute spurts like it is now and the more showy the better.
Add more weapons for show.
Add more kill scenes like mortal kombat again for show and achievements.
and add more unique class FIreteam members or just characters and I think you got yourself a sequal.

Some attention payed to how people move in the game like problem areas that inhibit movement while traversing the terrain…

bugs are bugs and are usually buffed out the more the engine is refined or the more your player base has better hardware. Believe me one its all about that most of the time.

The game is still pretty good as is, we just need the system to be more flexible for new class types, shaders, armour, body types and personalization of audio clips. What we had was Illfonic trying to customize these bitches but were stuck with limitations of either the engine or their willingness to own their dlcs (which could have been a licensing issue).

One of the biggest things i think they had to face was that they may have had issues with the IP owners saying they didn’t want their IP derailing into a fully new product that steps away from what has already been established. Since they won’t be able to monetize on any of it.

First of all, bugs and game mechanics.

Bullets and plasma shots stopped by branches and leaves shouldn’t be a thing.

FT should get rid of the jump crouch mechanic and instead have a climb interaction.

Fix Predator movement to avoid vertical leaps and correct the landing spots indicator.

Predator classes in general need to be faster. Their climb speed need to be faster as well.

FT noises should be on par with predator noises. If the FT is silent, so should be the pred.

A game mode that allows more FT players and more Predator players will benefit the game and improve the experience vastly, even at the current balance state. Currently 2 good FT players can carry the team, 2 good pred players can carry the other. Coordinating 3 players is far easier and less confusing than coordinating 12 players, but for something like that to work the missions need to have multiple objectives that need to be completed in synchrony in order to force the FT to split and coordinate.

Get rid of ammo crates or lower the ammo on FT to force a less “trigger happy” gameplay.

Reduce FT speed whenever carrying ammo bags and/or medkits.

Reduce Predator speed when carrying traps.

Get rid of the reinforcement mission (if you die you die).

Plasma shots should be faster. Projectile trajectory should have an indicator of where it is going to land to calculate the angle and not guessing it.

In game comms should be only among teammates except for the lobby.

Characters need to be more silent and not be screaming every little thing they do like mudding up or taking ammo.

Predator pinging should not be a thing. Ping should be for the general area and it should remain pinged until the player pings something else.

Objectives should be more interactive. Instead of holding down the button it should be inputting a sequence of timed input prompts.

Perks and weapons should be class restricted and allow for a more balanced HP/Damage between classes where every class has the potential to have the same HP or damage depending on the perks you choose. This goes for both Pred and FT

Pred should have a wider variety of weapons and gear and not the current shit list of inefficient melee weapons. The Predator is a hunter, not slasher like Jason or Mike Myers.

welp the focus is prolonging every single aspect of the game to the point where things are so deeply rooted that the temperature of soil is made to affect gameplay.
This is all well and good but clearly it needs to be massaged into the gameplay rather than explicitly requested. I would express more expedition to what would make a sequel great on the superficial level.
I mean…how the hell would you sell anything that you just said in a sell sheet or marketing discription?

I mean that kind of gameplay doesn’t even exist in any engine. and you kind of want to express these features on what actually exists today or make a whole new game based on it alone. But if we are only a few steps away from what you describe, then maybe it needs to be seen first. I’m sure if you could make a modified gameplay footage of existing PHG material of what you described then maybe one could see the value in it. rather than make every movement 3x longer and more sophisticated.
I see complicating FT movements and features far more balancing than adding more complexity to Predator only because of the problematic balance between PS PREDATORS vs PC FT.

I like to look at the Mercenaries RE4R for reference as because its been rather interesting lately.
Insert Mercenaries Melee machanics into PHG and we might be onto something.

Honestly, I think at the core of this game they did Predator well. Can leap long distances, hunt through the trees and environment, can be cloaked for long periods of time and has access to numerous weapons. If you were to take what we have now, apply it to a single player environment like Concrete Jungle (add multiple planets to explore like Fallen Order with multiple hunting objectives, from simple hunts to boss level hunts that are very difficult but yield high rewards), add the various buffs, equipment and extra weapons we’ve been wanting and have more sound and character design, we’d have a perfect Predator game.

My personal issue is I feel this game and Prey made the concept of a Predator weak. Anybody with decent exceptional skill and a bit of luck can kill one. Those fan arts of badass looking Preds that look unbeatable are a joke now, as any doofy with a assault rifle or medicine woman with blades on a rope can easily overpower and outmatch them. And I hate that. I understand Arnold and Harrigan were vastly outmatched as well, and it was the Pred’s cockiness that got them killed, but that should be the reason why they die, not because of plot armor.

That said a debuff of the FT armoury and increase the need for Melee mechanics (mercenaries) could be an interesting addition however we need to impart radius to the damage dealt by fireteam because once 1/4 get into close range it becomes a different ball game.

Give a FT member the ability to roll, parry, fatal stab, block, power slice, you now give him/her 50% chance of creating more technique that prolongs the battle for a hot minute and then remove the rest of the team from getting into the action, which means you systemically change the odds of predator winning or losing while allowing the rest of the team to not engage but to actually run for cover and not affecting the 1 v 1 engagement.

Ultimately you’re adding more narrative than what we have already when engagement happens.

That whole idea is a cool idea. FT from Far away= one ball game, FT at Close up = another ball game. Both engagements are executed at the same time and the mode of the game changes to FLIGHT OR FIGHT.

I’m saying if one goes CQC, the rest of the team drops it’s style and changes into something that doesn’t affect the other. So Once a CQC moment happens, everyone goes into escape mode or evac mode and changes the damage dealt and the gameplay.
That is, they may even change the objectives so that 3/4 can not engage which usually leads to a problem of PS/PC unbalance.

So there. I did it. I saved PHG. If you see it as a game of tag.

This cures PHG of it’s original gang bang mentality.
I’d like to hear what your thoughts on the predators perspective. Whether or not there is a need to change his engagement as its not yet evident that this solution might even solve both sides problems.
