In the End? PHG Sequel.

I have had many hours of enjoyment playing PHG over the past 3 years. That being said, we all know the game fell far short of its potential. As a fan of the Predator Franchise and games such as AvP2(PC), AvP(PS3), and Predator: Concrete Jungle(PS2), I was satisfied in simply being able to compete against player controlled soldiers as a lone predator in PHG. For the non trolls (not sure if that’s more than a couple people), considering the future of the franchise, what would you be most excited to see changed in a Predator: Hunting Grounds 2.(Hopefully created by a better studio than Illfonic.) Pick your top 3, I’ll go first.

  • A more durable predator
  • A more dangerous predator
  • Longer missions
  • Significantly better AI enemies
  • More predator weapons
  • More fireteam weapons
  • More maps
  • More characters
  • More modes
  • Better balance for variation of META builds
  • Replace all hitscan with projectiles
  • Stat tracking
  • Fewer bugs

Simply just a game PHG like but where the Pred is actually a hunter and not a Mortal Kombat character.

That’s fine. What specific mechanics, animations, interactions, etc., would make playing predator feel more hunter like?

An actually efective cloaking.
Gargling noises only when the Pred is more than like 50m away.
Pred steps and jumps making less noise.
More traps in quantity and variety.
Mission objectives that make FT spread more.
Damage more realistic to both sides. Like a spear throw or an arrow to the head should be an instant down, but also a sniper shot to the Pred’s head or 2 or 3 shotgun shots point blank.
Much more could be said…

Okay. I like your suggestions.

Basically, you would like both sides to be more dangerous, but the predator should be significantly stealthier.

I think that could lead to more interesting stalking and strategy. I guess the only downside could be the potential for both sides to do less fighting out of fear of being quickly eliminated, especially as predator.

Basically yes.
I think the Pred should be a strategist hunter not a damage rusher.
Yes less hardcore fighting but on the other hand more suspense and fear for the FT.
Basically a more “realistic” role play from what we see in the movies.

I think the assymetrical platform makes sense. Moralez has good ideas. The FT side of the game, IE missions and fighting against AI, should be interesting enough without the predator. Also, more game modes.

It would have to be. Since the predator would have to be cautious, playing as Fireteam would be fairly boring without interesting mission elements and AI that’s at least equal to CoD’s DMZ enemies.

I think a culminating element building to a final battle against the predator at the escape point would need to be created as well. Maybe optional FT missions that reward armor, weapon upgrades, motion sensors, etc., could incentivize longer matches, by essentially making the fireteam defenseless if they speed run and try to exfil immediately.

Interesting.

I’m sure we all agree on the big things. Bugs, balance, more variability in how the game works.

Illlfonic isn’t the company to do this. We all know that. And I don’t think this is a big enough IP to get any real attention in the next decade.

Unless Rebellion shows up like a hero again.

I mean honestly I wouldn’t really care if the fireteam got nerfed as long as the predator got a shit ton more health

Then it would actually require teamwork to kill it instead of soloing it with a butter knife

Bug fixes and more efficient matchmaking.

I’ve been thinking on balance, and I think the best way to require teamwork but still make the last man standing a fair fight would be for ft damage to be proportional to distance to teammates.
As a group you’d have to work together to kill the predator, but as solo you would also have a chance. Limit the number of sniper rifles to 1 per team to prevent a pre made from spreading out with all snipers and abusing the damage increase.
Would help reduce effectiveness of pre mades, make melee a viable playstyle, and wouldn’t mean you aren’t totally screwed if you match with all fresh installs.

Damn only 16% wanted more predator weapons? Thought that would be up there with modes and levels

There is no where near enough people left here to even actually discuss stuff like this.

Way more weapons and gear was one of the things.

Make The Predator Great Again.
Location based damage in terms of if you hit the armor it reflects the damage completely unless it’s a sniper round a mag round ECT. There could be a slight reduction for flesh shots based on class beefier preds get a little more than skinnier preds. The armor could also be damaged if too much damage is taken to it removing its protective abilities again based on class it would have smaller or larger HP.
Easier maneuverability for the Preds possibly a Predkor state that continually drains stamina but allows the pred to vault over things, wall run(lighter preds), wall jump, auto swing from branches, ECT.
More accurate damage for weapons that should Fucking wrecks humans like the SPC or a giant spear being thrown at you ECT. I could go on and on but here’s a start 😘

Decade. You don’t think so? Dead by Daylight is absolutely huge. There’s Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw soon. There’s a strong asym market and Prey(Hulu) did great, so it’s probably just a matter of securing the rights to predator for a reasonable price. Illfonic clearly has internet issues with design, because they make similar mistakes with all their games, but I think their are better studios that would jump on the opportunity to make their own version of PHG.
