Increase net viability

I do love to use the net but against any semi decent FT, its very limited. It needs a stronger ability to immobilize or incapacitate. Half the time I use it for fun or to mix things up.

Whenever you see nets in the movies etc people dont just run and hop about still. It needs a bigger range on pinning to surfaces (in the movies targets are launched back significantly to lock them on a surface) even a xenomorph doesn’t keep running when netted up, its wriggling on the floor. As should FT members if not pinned.

Also it needs a bigger spread, or some degree of tracking. Its so easy to dodge it they are aware. And if they are aware, the net isnt the right tool to use with its current limitations. I’ll happily take a cooldown penalty to an increase in viability.

As for escaping the net, it should primarily be the case that anothet FT member frees you, again in the movies it took an alien weapon for Danny to free himself. In other instances the victim can’t free themselves, and in another a human knife snapped attempting to do so.

I know FT mains are going to jump on this “Pred buff etc etc.” But if you’ve seen the movies at all then you know the current net is a poor imitation.

When ensnared by the Net Gun, the FT member should also have their movement speed reduced and they shouldn’t be able to jump. How can they move normally while trapped by a net made by an intergalactic alien hunter?

Same way as Alien hunter not be dead after one heavy sniper shot.

The net is pretty awesome as it is, there’s impact issues with foliage and I agree on the movement speed reduction. but if you have the trapper perk it’s an extremely strong weapon. You can engage three ft as though they were not there… lock one up do some serious damage to the 2nd then lock him up and let the net kill him. Finish off the third and go back and kill the first that should just have gotten free.

Lock him up again if you need to

If you take trapper perk, the net is pretty damn effective. If you cant kill a netted FT, you have other issues.

I walked through an FT squad yesturday and one of them asked me what perks I was running because I just destroyed them in seconds.

Impenetrable and trapper.

Using no weapons other than netgun, wristblades and plasma caster

i found there is clipping issues with the net, other then that i love it, one of my fav weapons in the game. i would argue that maybe scouts and recon when are netted, are reduced to the same run speed as support, even if they have double time perk on.

I think it should stay mostly as it is, it’s a great tool if you use it well. A few changes and it could very easily become op. But I agree that the ability to jump while netted should probably be removed

speed reduction and loss of ability to jump… definitely.
Otherwise it’s perfect
(there’s clipping and impact container issues but that’s not just related to this weapon and should be fixed over all)

I think that nets are in a pretty good spot at the moment. These are the tweaks I would like to see however:

  • A persistent reticle to help make snap shots more accurate (e.g. like the bow).
  • Give FT a chance to trip and fall if they sprint/jumped while netted. If that is not possible, perhaps a slow effect instead of tripping.

really shouldn’t be able to jump while in net at all…it ain’t a human net

What happens if you net someone twice quickly? DOes that increase the strength of the net?

I can not stand pointing the net gun at somebody and it doesn’t register. Hell, I even shot someone while they were reviving a teammate and it did nothing.

It just resets the net’s “durability” and timer. Unfortunately the net is entirely useless against someone using macros as they can break it instantly. The two biggest changes the net needs is to have someone hold down the interact button rather than pressing it to break, and to prevent FT members from being able to run off.

hitbox on it can be flat out stupid lol…

yeah, i can be terrible

People can’t run and jump in an average, primitive human net, let alone an alien one made of stronger alien alloys… lol.

too bad the devs don’t know that… lol

I’m down for buffing the net gun, but only if they reduce your ammo to about 6 or so.
