INto the Badlands

Ok, if you’re been into this show for whatever reason, i think its worth discussing.
Choreo is fucking awesome and artistic, lighting and costumes are also worth a note.
My only issue with this, is while drunk, i seem to notice that costumes are incredibly clean and well washed. Colours are vibrant and compliment individual clans.
Like there should one single episode dedicated to building why clothes are so clean and vibrant, and why fashion equals some kind of culture building. Everything looks so tailored we don’t actually see or know why. I’m specifically calling out S03e03 during the first 5 minutes.

I know its’ costumes are part of this shows charm, but id like to undestand or see this apparrel means so much to the storyline as its hard to imagine what brought about its importance. Of course, on screen it looks cool, but ultimately there should be some in-story function and desire to appear like this, for whatever reason. I think it has a really interesting psychological importance if one were to die wearing a bowler hat.

It reminds me of the film, Gangs of New York, but all that was the style at the time. Just that the director wanted to amplify it, which seemed natural to do (including curly mustaches).

Even at 6minutes in, one of the characters says he looks like a bloody idiot in a bowler cap, them trying to infliltrate another clan.

Season 1 was great.

Season 3 went full on mortal kombat wire-fu then they got into all the magical powers and the teenagers that can’t bother to try to act and I stopped watching.
