Yes, but, its still a loss in a way. Victor can’t make a new film with Jason Voorhees, at least the way we know him now (post-Part 1; hockey mask, sackhead, undead or not, etc., Sean still owns the rights to that version of the character). Plus he only has the domestic rights to the original F13. He and Sean Cunningham would have to resolve their personal issues in order to do this. So as much as we’d love to see a new movie, it’s probably not going to happen for a long time still. But the win is a big leap forward in the process, at least.

These guys are old as fuck

Time is not on their side

They could work out a deal

You can expect a reboot of the original at least

ANOTHER reboot of the original? Because technically that’s what the last one was, though it was more of a combo of Parts 1 and 2.

2009 was a series reboot of sorts not a remake of the first movie

It could be very scary with a grounded approach with supernatural undertones

I disagree

slashers trying to be more than slashers is Myers tryhard job.
The jason series knows what it is.

I’m talking about a Friday the 13th remake

Jason is a very small role

I’m referring to the history of Crystal Lake

Throughout the entirety of the series you hear about the death curse and I think a remake would be a great time to explore what the death curse is

A comic book did the best job at doing that

Long story short the westward expanding Americans slaughtered the Native American people who initially inhabited the region and dumped all the bodies in the lake

Now there is a dark presence all throughout crystal lake driving the settlers to kill

Young Jason happened to be the perfect vessel for the thousands of souls and they inhabited his body when he drowned

That’s why he can never die

but what does that do for me?

he still error codes as soon as someone puts on a baby blue sweater

I dont think making him a thousand salty souls adds anything to his character as he is first and foremost a thotslayer which also has nothing to do with indian lake magic

a weird reach to try to make jason a deep colonization commentary without adding anything substantial at all lol.
and in a way it tries to make the lake the focus instead of jason vs counselors its lake vs colonizers

Nothing apparently and that’s fine

Just remember you champion the venom movies 😂

Jason is a victim before a thotslayer

That’s why so many fans can relate to the character

I champion schlock. Malignant is my movie of the year already though.

imagine if jason was like nah counselor you’re native american im not going to kill you because I am actually an angry lake

Jason will kill anyone in crystal lake except maybe those he sees himself or his mother in

Or, if you go deeper into JGTH lore, Pamela used the Necronomicon to revive Jason and make him immortal. I quite like that, since the FvJvA comics were rather well done, and I wish something like that could have made it to cinema.

But I like the premise of the death curse being present long before Camp Crystal Lake, and Jason being the vessel for the tormented souls. Reminds me of the 2001 Godzilla film where he’s possessed by the souls of the dead WWII soldiers, seeking revenge against a world that has largely forgotten their sacrifices.

Also, lets not forget the influx of amazing fanfilms as of late. Even if Miller and Cunningham don’t kiss and make up, we still have many dedicated fans to come up with some amazing ideas.

Its the same with Clive barker , he gets the rights to hellraiser back through his novel hellbound heart and the first movie , but nothing after that.

He has joined the hbo show , its going to be interesting what they do and I would bet the f13 will go down the route of terminator, Cameron won the rights back but chose to just take a bigger slice off the top
