As some of you may have noticed, I got rather emotional after the last patch. If anyone was offended or felt bad because of me – I’m truly sorry. That was not my intention. I took 2 days off the forum and chilled down – also looked at some figures. I now have a small statement to make:
To all of you that, like me, are very frustrated with the last two patches and a pointless – non Yautja related DLC – don’t hold that against Illfonic to much – actually, don’t blame them at all, quz its simply nothing to do with them.
I’ve recently watched the live stream devs had on 28th… and it’s all clear to me now.
Guys from Illfonic are not making any decisions – they are just like us, happy adult kids, wanting to have some fun. They are not in charge of this project – they are just workers tasked with the development of a product – a video game.
Sony is in charge of this game and any development process that takes place. Its really not that hard to see. Clash is nothing to do with Predator lore, its simply a way of getting more casual CS fans on board (from Sony’s perspective, it’s a way of getting more money). Samurai Predator (completely pointless, not lore related character) was released 30th Jun – 2 weeks before Ghosts of Tsushima released. Makes no sense, right? Why the hell Sony would try to compete with itself? Don’t know, but its not a coincidence that another pointless, non existing in the lore character is also being released 2 weeks before Ubisoft is releasing its Viking-themed game. Sony is doing what it always dose – playing safe. They know that pred fan base is not that big, so they will pump as much generic bullshit in to this product as possible in order to milk as much money out of it. You all can bet that the next Pred DLC will be strongly related to whatever AAA title is coming out next – just to attract more players that are not interested in Yautja. This is also the reason for constant FT buffs and Pred nerfs – casual players, not interested in Yautja lore don’t want to see strong and scary predators – they simply want to shoot and kill aliens. In order to get them on board and keep them here, those controversial balance changes will keep on happening. From Sony’s point of view its pure business. For this game however it’s a disaster.
In my personal opinion (just my opinion) Sony will get more players that way, but only for a short while. They will move on to other games very quickly and this title will die, because die hard Yautja fans will be no longer here to support it after this pred – nerfing treatment.
